The guys will be retaining their movie personalities

As said before, “the revival will be strictly based on the first movie all the way down to the smallest details” (With a few elements from RGB.). That’s what we were told in one of the “It’s Coming!” news articles. The “Smallest Details”, meaning that Ray will be driving/the custodian of the ECTO-1 (And not Winston.), Slimer won’t be their pet and he won’t appear very often, and Janine will still be chasing Egon. And one more small detail: Their Personalities.

This means that the Ghostbusters' personalities will resemble their movie counterparts more than the RGBs. Meaning that:

1.) Peter WILL be more of a conman than a guy who regrets not spending more time with his mother. He won't give nice old ladies (Or anyone for that matter.) discounts or free busts. All he'll really care about will be money, fame, and Dana. He'll be your typical Bill Murray character (Meaning that he may even steal a cab from a tired old woman carrying many Christmas gifts.).

2.) Ray won't be a six-year-old trapped in a twenty-four-year old's body (Of course, he still loves horror/Sci-Fi movies, Comic Books, and Cartoons.). He'll smoke, drink, and use profanity (As will Peter and Winston.).

3.) Egon will remain more like a new wave Mr. Spock. He won't smile, laugh, or show ANY emotions (Few, if any. But of course, there is Janine… ). He'll be a human computer that views life as a state of mind and sees us as tiny parts of a vast organism, like two bacteria living on a rotting speck of dust floating in an infinite void.

How do you guys feel about this? Are you glad that they'll be more like their movie counterparts?

Exactly. I want to see them like that. That's the way they were meant to be. Not watered-down and friendly enough for a cartoon. Although I wouldn't mind Ray's enthusism for comics or watching horror/Sci-Fi movies. Infact, in a deleted scene from the shooting script, he was on a talk show (A clip from this scene made it into the montage.) and named many of his favorite old horror movies.

I wonder if the Venkman lovers on this site will be disappointed that he's not going to be a “nice guy” like he was on RGB.

i don't remember reading about the elements from RGB…

the personalities are one of the things i enjoyed so much about the first film, especially egon. i'm REALLY glad they're going that route….

Meh, it's okay, expect for the Egon and Janine bits. But I guess you all expected me to say that.

I'm glad they are keeping the characters close to their movie counterparts. I feel that part of the reason we are all ghostheads and the movie was such a hit was because we all fell in love with the characters. the chemistry between the four ghostbusters and their different personalities made it interesting. Don't change something that works!!

Sounds great, a little dubious over the small RGB traits, but, we'll see anyway, I'd love to see it though.

You guys will not be disapointed.

Indeed.

Of course there's nothing wrong with RGB, and I hope a few things will be brought over (Except for the Slimer we could understand who was always taking the spotlight away from the guys, and the unnecessary vehicles.). I'll always have that special place for RGB in my heart.
