The Neon Sign Company!

I'm not sure if anyone bothered to pay attention to this or not, especially considering phone numbers in movies or TV are usually fake. But in Ghostbusters 2 when they show the guy outside cleaning the new GB2 sign there is a phone number posted on his little bucket truck post. I saw this the other day and was bored and noticed it wasn't your usual 555 number so I decided to call it. They weren't open at the time but never the less it was an actual company. I can't remember the name but it is some kind of neon sign company. So i don't know if anyone every knew this but it is news to me and I thought it was pretty cool, I might actually call back and see if they acknowledge doing the film or if someone working there actually did the part in the movie, well if anyone knows anything else about this please do tell.

Good eye - a few others have spotted it. It's listed in the imdb trivia page for GB2. The company is called “Five Town Neon Service Inc.” (aka Johnny's Signs) - Old company. Been operating since 1945 apparently. It's never been confirmed if they made the sign, or if they were hired for the crane, but it seems fairly likely that the did make the sign, since for a reasonable price you free up the set/prop department from having to build the sign, the sign is made by people who actually know how to make a sign, and as a bonus, you can film them installing it and use it (the shot only lasted a couple of seconds.)

If you do call them, see if you can find out who the guy in the shot is.

That's really cool. Good eye indeed. It's been over 15 years, and still I'm learning new stuff about GB2 (& GB1, etc.). I bet you're right Castewar, they probably had the actual company make it and install it, and got a stolen shot in the process. I always thought that extra looked particularly focused on what he was doing.

That's cool! Not sure if that's some kind of advertising but at least that's a new way to reach possible customers though. Thanks for the heads up. IT's helpful though. In fact, you gave us an idea to be careful with numbers on movies.
