The Official Real Ghostbusters DVD Q&A Thread

Ok, what you're saying is close to what the Wikipedia entry states:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_The_Real_Ghostbusters_episodes

However, Wiki has Deja Boo, so w/ the pilot that would be 141, so there's a 1 episode difference from what you said to the Wiki list. Any idea which one is missing?

Also, if 34 Slimer! eps exist on top of the 141 RGB, then what does the “147” mean from Time Life?

OK, here it goes:

Both versions of “Deja Boo” count as 1 episode, the pilot doesn't count at all (for the sake of the 147 episode count). Whats messing everyone up is two things, 1. The Slimers! are part of the 147, and 2 The fifteen minute episodes from 1989 count as a half episode each.

Ironically this is still wrong because they used the syndication package masters, which is why the Slimers are seperate and have the different ending and why the speed is messed up on all the 1989 episodes (fifteens are too fast regulars are to slow) and why the were still using the older “the real ghostbusters will be right back” bumpers instead of the custom to each episode bumpers with the dialouge “Ray: Hey there junior ghostbusters! theres a lot more action to come Slimer: And more Slimers too. Thats me.”

And why the redubs are missing. They weren't in the syndication package since they weren't needed to balance out the 1 hour format.
I e-mailed Andy Mangels about this already too.

really? i checked mine today and said waiting in the warehouse to ship. Hopefully soon. I figure at the worse, by the 10th of jan, right?

Yeah. I dont think it will take any longer. I ordered my brother a new guitar for christmas and the shipping said 3-5 days and it came the next day. It all depends on where you live and how the mail is running. Now with new years day coming, I dont think there is any mail that day.

I just watched disc 2 of vol 4, the one everyone is saying too slow. Well I agree it is slow but these episodes I remember being slow when originaly aired, there may of tho been faster versions on a reair of them tho. I have a audio cassette from 1990 that I made of various tv themes, RGB&TMNT mostly, and it has recordings of various speeds of the S&RGB opening.

Partners in Slime, which features on that disc, was certainly slow on the Movie ‘green slime’ two pack that came out a couple of years ago - maybe there's a problem with the masters for that batch of episodes?

The Complete Collection, the one with all the bonus features and the Firehouse packaging isn't going to be released in the UK, or anywhere outside of North America.

However, it's obvious that Time Life anticipated that people from aboard would want it, and made sure the set would be Region 0, so it could be watched anywhere.

I don't know if the series sets due out next year will see the UK or not, but if you're wanting all the bonus features, which includes the original promo animation, you have to go for the Collected set.

The Collected set isn't offered to people in the UK, but a number of websites, such as Spook Central and GBFans have offered it for sale to overseas fans, so that'd be your best bet for getting it.

You can keep watch for it on eBay, but expect to pay a higher price. You won't find it at all on Amazon.

Are any fans still doing favours for those who live in europe? I really want the box set and I'd like to know who I can contact in order to organise having the dvd sent over to me.

I have been absolutely loving this set. I have always had this question though, ever since owning “Fright at the Opera” on VHS: Why in the world does this episode have such poor production quality? It seems to have an unusually high number of animation mistakes, some of the animated drawings seem to clash with their backgrounds in terms of the way they are supposed to move, and there are a large number of wide angle shots with diminished facial details and such. I dunno, maybe I am being too much of a fanboy. I love the episode, but this has always bothered me, especially since so many of the other season 1-2 shows are virtually perfect. Any thoughts/guesses?

No idea about “Fright at the Opera”, but can someone tell me why the episode “Partners in Slime” on the GB2 DVD has bad sound that “skips” at various places? It really annoys me when that happens, because it's so random and so obvious that it drives me nuts!

Nix, mine doesn't skip.
