Mine had the skipping problems sometimes, specifically with bonus DVD which is the first thing I watched. I switched the DVD players and oddly enough it started working again. Maybe it was the player then.

Stupid Question. I was one of the few people whom waited to order the set. Well recently Lea (my girlfriend) and I have been thinking about getting finally our own copies of the set and I was wondering if anyone knew of a place where a list of known problems with the set has been cataloged?

I want to get the set (as does Lea) but but we are kind of second guessing ourselves a little…

At the moment there isn't a comprehensive list. Various issues have been recorded across the two forums, but they'd require a bit of digging to find all the posts.

OK, here it goes:

Both versions of “Deja Boo” count as 1 episode, the pilot doesn't count at all (for the sake of the 147 episode count). Whats messing everyone up is two things, 1. The Slimers! are part of the 147, and 2 The fifteen minute episodes from 1989 count as a half episode each.

Ironically this is still wrong because they used the syndication package masters, which is why the Slimers are seperate and have the different ending and why the speed is messed up on all the 1989 episodes (fifteens are too fast regulars are to slow) and why the were still using the older “the real ghostbusters will be right back” bumpers instead of the custom to each episode bumpers with the dialouge “Ray: Hey there junior ghostbusters! theres a lot more action to come Slimer: And more Slimers too. Thats me.”

And why the redubs are missing. They weren't in the syndication package since they weren't needed to balance out the 1 hour format.
I e-mailed Andy Mangels about this already too.

Thanks for telling us why they are screwed up. I still feel like crying when I got to those discs.

Has anyone else noticed that “Fright at the Opera” had a lot of scratches on the picture? It also seems to me like there are a couple audio glitches; I never saw the original airing of that episode so I don't know if those were original/intentional or an artifact of the remastering.

Here's a very good question:

Are there any left?

I got a job at school, and payday's on Friday. If I can save up enough until my birthday, I'm *seriously* looking into “going the whole hog” and getting the full set. Mostly because I want that bonus disc.

i dont know if timelife has them but if not you can still get the set off of ebay for about 220 dollars.

It's still listed at Time-Life's web site. As long as it's still there, it wouldn't hurt to try and order it there first.

I think this might fit in here

James Eatock uploaded some behind the scenes photos of the Real Ghostbusters DVD:

At the risk of rehashing an old thread, I wanted to comment now that I'm getting ever closer to the end of the series.

As a whole, the later episodes were actually better than I had given them credit for. While not on the same level as the first season, they were rather enjoyable.

Overall the video quality is pretty good. Not great, but not many cartoons from that period were stored with the intention of seeing the light of day 20 years later.

The slow down on the second disc of the fourth volume is annoying, but not as bad as some made it out to be. If nothing else it makes a few lines from Egon and Winston a little more humorous. Nothing quite like hearing Ghostbusters who stayed up all night hitting the sauce.

At the end of the day it's a great show that holds up a lot better than most shows from the era. At $1 an episode, it's a good price for a show that I've waited a very long time to see again.
