Question: Did anyone else find that disc 1 in each set was loose? It didn't seem like it had moved around or was scratched (because the steelbook cases don't allow for much movement, but when I opened each set, disc 1 was not attached into its spot.

This didn't happen in my set.

fair enough. Just thought I'd check.

Oh - another thing about the promo… Did anyone else notice the equipment? It's the RGB toy equipment to the “T”. The proton packs match the small ones for the figures from the nuclear sign at the top to the little smile type thing below the bumper on the cyclotron. The PKE meter Egon has while in the Ecto-1 seems to really match the “real life” sized one - it's the middle antenna that really stuck out to me.

Oh and I'll admit - like Paul mentioned on Spook Central - the first thing I noticed pulling it out of the box was how small it was.

Haha, I still keep noticing that. Like every time I look at it, I'm like “There's no way there's 25 DVD's in there!”

thats becausae the toys were probably designed around the same time as the promo, so they used that footage to make them.

Right. It was just neat to see where the designs originated. What a great set!

This set kicks ass. I got home from my terrible desk job yesterday at 5:20 PM, and by 5:30 I was settled in for six solid hours of Ghostbusters cartoons. I had a bag of Doritos (which I never eat) and a glass of sweet iced tea and I was nine years old again!

They did a fantastic, fantastic job on this set. I spent an hour looking at the character designs – I was even impressed with the Slimer! cartoon preproduction art.

What a great pre-Christmas gift. Hats off to Time-Life Productions.

Someone asked about the video quality – it looks like it did when I was nine. It doesn't look “digitally restored” or anything – it looks good enough for a 20 year old cartoon. Better than my old videotapes, but picture quality on those can be attributed to physical wear on the actual tape. The cartoons look about as good as the stuff on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles DVDs. I will say that at least on the episodes I watched, the red seems to be turned way up, but maybe that's just my TV.

I've watched the first few episodes, but not the promo pilot yet. I'm trying to delay that a bit, as I don't want to just throw in the bonus disc and run through it all right away.

What's really amazing is this…I started watching the show in September of 1st Grade (which would be the start of season 2) after “playing Ghostbusters” with my friends at recess every day. I remember one of my very first thoughts about the show, which was that I loved the intro because of the Marshmallow Man. One of the main reasons I tuned in rabidly was because I just *had* to catch the episode that I assumed they must have drawn that from. After that my young life would have been complete. Of course I never saw that, and eventually came to love the show anyway.

And now, over 21 years later, after I'd long assumed there was no such episode…I actually will get to see it. I'm assuming some type of time-rift is going to rip open, so be careful.

So as to episode writing quality…about how many discs deep does the show start to turn not-so-good? I looked on the episode list and saw some episodes even towards the very end that I thought I remembered being good.

Oh yea, one of the reasons I mentioned writing quality was because I've been mostly unimpressed (just unimpressed, not disappointed) with the first 4 or so that I watched. I guess from what I've read that the show hit its stride in syndication? Also, do the voices change a little bit over time (I'm not talking recasts)? They don't sound quite right to me, so they were either refined or I'm remembering wrong, or it's just an audio issue.

Definitely is going to be interesting watching these in order to get a sense of the evolution. I've noticed something significant about the music in these first few episodes that my 1st Grade self would be interested to know about.

If you're referring to getting to see them bust Stay Puft, there's not much else to it than was originally in the intro to every episode. Just so you know.

Also, you can edit your posts if you come up with another thought and no one has posted yet.

As for the voices, I'm sure they change slightly sometimes, either cuz an actor has a small cold, or just an off day.

Hey everyone! I'm glad to see so many Ghostheads going bonkers running through the set as quickly as possible! You guys are great! Make sure to enjoy every last second of it! As I was going through the thread I was noticing that everyone was American; is there any Canadians that have recieved their set yet? I'm still waiting…Praying that Time Life or UPS or whatever haven't screwed us over. If there is any regular Canadians on the forum, have you recieved yours yet? Let me know!

There's plenty of regular Canadian users and a semi explanation has been posted in the other thread, having to do with UPS possibly or a delay due to a postal strike possibly. Don't start suggesting Time Life may have screwed you over, that's just inappropriate.

As for telling everyone to enjoy the set… thanks, I guess? LOL, sorry. The way your post started it almost sounded like you worked for Time Life or something. It was weird.
