I've watched the first few episodes, but not the promo pilot yet. I'm trying to delay that a bit, as I don't want to just throw in the bonus disc and run through it all right away.
What's really amazing is this…I started watching the show in September of 1st Grade (which would be the start of season 2) after “playing Ghostbusters” with my friends at recess every day. I remember one of my very first thoughts about the show, which was that I loved the intro because of the Marshmallow Man. One of the main reasons I tuned in rabidly was because I just *had* to catch the episode that I assumed they must have drawn that from. After that my young life would have been complete. Of course I never saw that, and eventually came to love the show anyway.
And now, over 21 years later, after I'd long assumed there was no such episode…I actually will get to see it. I'm assuming some type of time-rift is going to rip open, so be careful.
So as to episode writing quality…about how many discs deep does the show start to turn not-so-good? I looked on the episode list and saw some episodes even towards the very end that I thought I remembered being good.
Oh yea, one of the reasons I mentioned writing quality was because I've been mostly unimpressed (just unimpressed, not disappointed) with the first 4 or so that I watched. I guess from what I've read that the show hit its stride in syndication? Also, do the voices change a little bit over time (I'm not talking recasts)? They don't sound quite right to me, so they were either refined or I'm remembering wrong, or it's just an audio issue.
Definitely is going to be interesting watching these in order to get a sense of the evolution. I've noticed something significant about the music in these first few episodes that my 1st Grade self would be interested to know about.
