The Official Real Ghostbusters DVD Q&A Thread

Nevermind that fact its hard for anyone to take the shoes of someone elses job as the voice of a character. Sometimes, I think people whine too much about it. Seriously the guy gave it his all, heck I was watching “The Treasure of Sierra Tamale” and there he was also covering the shoes of Peters father too. The guy is a talented Voice actor, give him a bit of credit.

So did anyone else think it was kind of funny that pretty much everybody said that they were unhappy when Dave Coulier took over for Peter. Maurice LaMarche had some good things to say about Coulier, but he still said that he felt like something was missing when Lorenzo left the crew. Not only that but when you watch the Featurette on the Heroes (either vol 2 or 3 I can't remember) they go through all of the voice actors who've played the guys, even Buster Jones, but don't mention Coulier at all.

I kinda feel bad for him because it's a no-win situation.

He's screwed if he does well and screwed if he does poorly.

Having said that, I always loved Lorenzo Music's voice work. I don't know if it's just a coincidence, but many of his characters were always my favorite. Venkman, Garfield, Tummy Gummy, etc.

I think Lorenzo's departure was felt, but was also highlighted by the change in direction the show took. It really magnified the hole he left.

When I reached my teenage years, cartoons were often the furthest thing from my mind and so I didn't realize he had passed away until a year or so after he died. Years later, it still makes me sad. His work was a big part of some fond childhood memories.

You know, I wounder why this set wasn't remastered using the original film transfers enstead of using ABC's tapes, would of made the quality like the He-Man sets.

Yeah I think everyone kinda thought it but since it was that situation that sucked for Coulier, it wasn't his fault so no one really wanted to say anything bad against Coulier. I do think Lorenzo Music did definetly capture the laziness and sarcastic nature of Venkman. Though the scripts in the later seasons didn't offer much in the way of good dialogue anyway.

Too bad there wasn't a Caddyshack cartoon, his Murray voice would have been better suited for that. Lorenzo seemed more like Venkman anyway to me.

Can anyone confirm which opening credits is used for “The Halloween Door”? The Standard credit sequence or the special one used as it originally aired on the network?

They used the special sequence on the DVDs.

Is it just me or are some of the episodes faster or slower than they should be?

Especially the 15 minute ones?

I'm asking if anyone else noticed this problem with ‘Night Game’ on disc 4 of vol. 1. What at best looks like a VHS tracking problem, a horizontal black bar will break up the very bottom of the picture. It appears frequently throughout the episode. Not the opening and closing credits though.

I've been watching the set with a PS3 and HDTV but I've checked it on a SDTV and it's there as well. I'm checking with you guys to see if it's a widespread problem or just my disc before I contact Time-Life. Thanks for any help.

Yeah, it's on mine too.

It's from the masters.

There are also a few episodes with a greater amount of dust on the film.

A week of ups and downs:

Wednesday, I slid off the road and into a deep, deep ditch.. bad.

They get my truck out with no damage… good.

Went to my friend's new band's concert that night… good.

Next day I discover that the front wheel is bent and needs to be fixed immediatly…bad.

Come home that night to find a box on the front porch that my girlfriend and our recently acquired roommate failed to notice: it had arrived. Ironicly enough I was wearing my Ghostbusters ringer t-shirt that day… extremely good.

Next day from 6 AM to 12 PM I get sick in two hour intervals… then spend the rest of my day sleeping and halucinating (probably from the heater in our room and my body's heat at that time).

But yes. I watched the special features first and “Collect Call of Cthulu (Cathulu)”. All in all I'm pleased as punch. Plus my friend just called to tell me that he picked up three of the original line up figures mint on card from a flea market for $25 a piece.
