The plot. Taking all guesses!

This is a thread solely about what people think the plot of the game will be. I just wanted to know what everyone else thought was going to happen in the game. Things like:

Who will be the mastermind behind this new wave of ghost and demons?

What supprizes await our heroes?

What human interference will be thrown at them? (With Walter Peck overseeing them I'm sure there will be alot)

Will there be any romantic intrest for any of the characters? (I could see a Jannie - Spengler thing possibly rekindled)

What is the master plan of what ever supernatural force is behind all this?

Will any character die? (I doubt it, but you never know)

Will things spread outside NYC?

What ghost will turn up or return?

How will it end?

Will the new recruit stay or leave?

Why is the city under water at one point and why did central park turn into a cemetary?

Will a fluffy cat come out of nowhere and eat the firehouse? (Just added that to show that no thought, no matter how outlandish, can be thrown out)

Taking all bets. What do you think?

I'll get things started. I think that after opening the Summarian museum of art someone will unwittingly set loose/free/summon Cthulhu, god of insanity, and he will try to tear his way into this world, and create all sorts of rifts and interdemntional holes for ghost and demons to come through as well as tearing apart the laws of phisics (why central park turns into a graveyard and the city is sumerged underwater and no one is effected), all unbeknownst to the Ghostbusters. This makes the work shift tripple or more for the boys in grey, so they hire a new recruit and file for a franchise lisence
to cut back on the work load. You've proably heard all of that from sources already. So the game continues and the Ghostbusters have to hire a Phsycologist to help them battle the insanity bestowed on them by thier new nemiss, and one of them will proably go completly nuts and be out of a couple of levels for a while untill they get better. I think that Jannie and Egon might rekindle a relationship. At the end of the game, the ghostbusters must enter one of these interdemtional portals to do battle with Cthulhu, who at this point has pretty much taken over the entire world. The battle ensues, the Ghostbusters win. And the credits work much like ghostbusters I where we see them return and the after battle epiloge. I doubt that any of them will die, but one of them might not return from the interdemintioal rift and if there is another game I can see them being revived and that becoming a critical part of the story.

I reckon there'll be a big monster ghost and some little ghosts and the ghostbusters will pretty much have to fight them to save the world. Maybe there'll be a montage in there.

the big baddie is none other than Louis Tully. YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST!

Who will be the mastermind behind this new wave of ghost and demons?

A new original bad guy we probably won't expect… something new to the franchise but with the familiar Aykroyd/Ramis flair.

What supprises await our heroes?

Beyond the unexpected return of the Stay Puft Marshmallow man, and some of the horrors hinted at in the promo art they'll probably meet some unexpected problems through Walter Peck and the Gozerian Museum exhibit (I'm yet to believe there'd be a whole museum dedicated to Gozer the Gozerian).

What human interference will be thrown at them? (With Walter Peck overseeing them I'm sure there will be alot)

Obviously Walter Peck, as well as possibly dealing with humans who have grown too interested in Gozer and Gozerian law, to the point of becoming enslaved by it.

Will there be any romantic intrest for any of the characters? (I could see a Janine - Spengler thing possibly rekindled)

Good question, I think it's possible… especially with the absence of Louis Tully, but with Harold it's anyone's guess.

What is the master plan of what ever supernatural force is behind all this?

Possibly to clear the way for global domination by first dispatching the Ghostbusters so they're no longer a problem for the big bad.

Will any character die? (I doubt it, but you never know)

Unlikely, the core vibe of the films was comedy and even when stuff got really bad, nobody died… it'd be too serious a tone for Ghostbusters.

Will things spread outside NYC?

Heh, if they didn't in the films… they probably won't in the game. If the big bad had won, it probably would have consumed the globe.

What ghost will turn up or return?

We know the following ghosts are set to return, or have been hinted at returning:

-Slimer
-Stay Puft
-The Library Ghost
-Vigo The Carpathian
-The Scoleri Brothers
-Gozer

How will it end?

The guys win, the big bad fails and Venkman gets the girl. :p

Will the new recruit stay or leave?

Almost certainly. It'd be anticlimatic having gone through all of the events of the game, and won, only to then quit the company at the end.

Why is the city under water at one point and why did central park turn into a cemetary?

Mass hallucenation or ectoplasmic shift of Wall Street and Central Park. These are probably caused by some higher level powered ghosts which can shape and twist the nature of our reality to something they'd prefer.

Will a fluffy cat come out of nowhere and eat the firehouse? (Just added that to show that no thought, no matter how outlandish, can be thrown out)

Nope, if it did they'd sent it packing before it could even dump a hairball on the roof.

If I were to guess I'd say the main love interest would be for our character since we're the star of the game. Especially since the love interest is tied directly into the events transpiring.

I'd expect them to stick with the formula of the first 2 films plot-wise and I'm sure the main villian will be much like Gozer and Vigo are… An original creation inspired by an ancient civilization or historical figure.

Who will be the mastermind behind this new wave of ghost and demons?

Something that is in the shadow of Gozer, she'll call on Vigo's power to help her freeing it. They say that Vigo will stay in his painting… that doesn't mean that he can't communicate or use some spells. Maybe she'll make a deal like “help me and I'll help you to get out”…

What supprizes await our heroes?

The result of all this
But I'd like them to discover, at the end, a big relic under the city. Something unique made by the ancients to communicate with the spirit world. That will explain why NewYork city had all those paranormal activity. No other places in the world had all those ghosts, etc. They will learn that there's probably smaller relics everywhere in the world, under the earth, impossible to find, made to be use like “phone booth” by the old civilisation. That can explain why some people, there or there, find a spirit once in their life.

What human interference will be thrown at them? (With Walter Peck overseeing them I'm sure there will be alot)

Probably Walter and some group of people who think that the Ghostbuster are still responsible of all this. But I don't think it's a good idea for the game. Same thing for Walter, the city finance the ghostbusters now. Oh, well, he can still appear, shouting “See!? If you didn't pay for their activity, there won't be any of this crap right now!”

Will there be any romantic intrest for any of the characters? (I could see a Jannie - Spengler thing possibly rekindled)

I hope not, Janine will look like a desperate woman in search of a lover!
We had romance in GB1, we saw Janine and Louis in GB2, no reason to do it again in GB3.

What is the master plan of what ever supernatural force is behind all this?

I answer what Kingpin said. But if I need to be different, why not a plan to end the illusion of “life”? The bad guy will search for a relic that will corrupt the balance between the world of the living and the spirit world.
A living being won't be able to be interactive with the relic, but a soul powerful enough…

Will any character die? (I doubt it, but you never know)

Kill Venkman! Murray will be happy with that :p
No, seriously, I think it's possible to make a scene where Egon explain carefuly that the only solution, the only way to stop the ultimate action, is to have a spirit. Egon will also add that he was working on a device, in the past, to analyse how the soul comes out of the body during dead. That device is capable of holding the soul as well. But they need the ultimate sacrifice. To not make it look like a drama, lets imagine they are in front of a window that gives on the spirit world. Walking through it will be like walking out of your body instantly. But to be sure that the soul won't forget the action he was supposed to do as a living, the person will need to enter the device first. The others will then push it through the window when ready; as the body fades, a bright light follow and the soul appear. Egon will use another device to communicate with the soul, to discovers that only human emotions are capable of communicating with a spirit. Everyone will speak with their hearth to make the soul understand. The soul will then remember that he is not in a cell. He will calm down and listen, the others will beg him to stop the bad guy's action before it's to late. The soul will nod. Using a remote control, Egon unlock the device and the soul is flying towards war. He will steal the relic from the bad guy, throw it in the world of the living, the bad guy will rush after it and the ghostbusters will destroy both the relic and the mad spirit. Now two things can happen: the window closes and the device is left with a body; the device is still holding the window open and the soul returns, at the surprise of everyone, to his body, Egon deactivates the device, the window disapear, and they do everything to reanimate the body, it finaly open the eyes and everyone is screaming of joy! “Be easy on me” whispers the person in a smile “I just returned”. Honnestly, I can see Ray Stantz in that role. The captain of the boat willing to sacrifice itself to save everyone.

Will things spread outside NYC?

Why not?

What ghost will turn up or return?

Becose Gozer and Vigo return, I think all the ghost that we saw will return!

How will it end?

In a scream of joy! j/k
I always wanted to see GB3 as the last ghostbusters movie. Something that will make the wrong things right. Something that will end the paranormal activity once and for all. I can see the museum of Gozer replaced with the museum of Ghostbusters, to make the next generations remember what the heros have done for the world.

Will the new recruit stay or leave?

He will be remembered as one of the Ghostbusters. He will tour with them and when the interest of the public will return to normal, maybe he'll find a work in the museum

Why is the city under water at one point and why did central park turn into a cemetary?

I answer what Kingpin said.

Will a fluffy cat come out of nowhere and eat the firehouse? (Just added that to show that no thought, no matter how outlandish, can be thrown out)

Naa, he will eat the empire state building and makes central park his own litter :-)

Taking all bets. What do you think?

That GB game will rock!

I doubt the two past big bads we saw will be the the cause of ANYTHING. They might act up slightly, but it won't be them.

Also, don't forget they said the end will set up franchises for all over the country/world.

I doubt the two past big bads we saw will be the the cause of ANYTHING. They might act up slightly, but it won't be them.

That's what I said:

Something that is in the shadow of Gozer

Something very powerful. It may even use Gozer to return. “She”s the one with a portal. Why not take advantage of that. Or Gozer think she's the one in control or she's already a slave working to free the entity. In both case, she will turn to Vigo for help.

Also, don't forget they said the end will set up franchises for all over the country/world.

Like I said:

I always wanted to see GB3 as the last ghostbusters movie. Something that will make the wrong things right.

It's a wish, like everything I said, my ideal. But it still scary to hear that the end will set up franchises all over the world. Well, it opens a door for a fourth movie… it can be good, it can be bad. But it certainly must not end the ghostbusters story like this.

If the whole world need franchises, now it's hell on earth! It's like out of control! You need more people! And, like I said in the past, they will need to build another containment unit, then another one, and another one… There will be large restricted high security areas of containment units! I don't want to think about what will happen if they lose power :-O

But that's another story…
