The Real Ghostbusters?

Isn't the cartoon “The Real Ghostbusters” supposed to be a continuation of the movies? if that were the case would they make the third one based off of the end of the series or the end of the second movie?

I don't mean to sound like a noob, i'm just wondering. i just bought volume 1 of the animated series and though that it was all they were doing to continue the series back in the 80's.

Unfortunately any third movie wouldn't continue from the cartoons, as from the viewpoint of the “movie universe”, they aren't canon.

I would not mind a “Flip Side” IRL adaptation…

yeah i'd second that flip side was on of my favourite episodes, it's something i always have dreamt about seeing in a third movie if that ever happens, of course the likely hood of seeing the flip side cartoon story transported over into the movie universe isn't liekly but still a cool idea.

It's been a long time since I saw the cartoon, but I distincly remember an episode that explains what happened after Gozer, and also to their original uniforms…

I don't recall the cartoon ever referencing the second movie though. Did they ever use Slime Blowers in the cartoon?

They never used the slime blowers, but they did mention Vigo and the mood slime.

Wow… very cool. Man, I'd really like to pick up that Time Life set of the entire series, but 200 bucks on DVD's is money I could be spending on Iron Man statues.

Well in the cartoons logic; the Cartoon was not the a continuation of the movies. The exploits of the animated Ghostbusters were the expoits of the actual factual Ghostbusters and the movie was made about them seperating the two into two separate universes

Wait what?

The two cartoons that are in question are on the Ghostbusters 1&2 dvd pack.

What he's saying is the cartoon series as a whole, based on the episode “Take Two”, makes Ghostbusters the movie out to be a cinematic story of the Real Ghostbusters.

As in, The Real Ghostbusters are the “real” universe, and the movie is a studio's stab at capitalizing on their popularity.

It was more of an inside joke than anything serious, but in the episode “Take Two” the first scenes of the movie are shown as a “debut” of the movie that is based on the lives of the guys in The Real Ghostbusters.

Its difficult to explain, but I hope this helps.
