I agree, I think that making this music available via itunes is a wonderful idea, but if you're Saban you need some kind of reason to do it. Music from animated series is unlike other music, it's not popular, it's an extremely niche market and the only people who really want to own it are avid collectors or fanatics of a particular francise like us.

Yeah, that's why I think iTunes is a good idea – I mean, they have orchestrations from 1990s Godzilla movies on iTunes, for crying out loud. There, the people that want it could get it, and it's much cheaper than producing CDs, packaging, marketing, etc…

A pretty big Godzilla (1998) score was released within the last year or so… unless you mean stuff from the Japanese ones.

I'd prefer it to be on a more general source like Amazon rather than Itunes. I wouldn't want it to be uploaded specifically for those with iPods when there are people who might have a MP3 player not made by Apple.

Kingpin - I do mean stuff from the Japanese movies, from the 90s and 2000s. A lot of it is on iTunes and – err, for dorks who are into that kind of thing – it's much cheaper than importing CDs.

Incidentally – there are pieces of software, or so I have heard, on this “inter net” that convert iTunes m4p files into mp3 files, playable on any mp3 player. It's good for me because I use iTunes but I don't have an iPod. I have a twenty dollar WalMart mp3 player.

Sucks to see his site say

We often receive requests for CD and DVD copies of Mr. Levy’s work. This is an informational archive for fans of Shuki Levy, therefore we do not sell any products on this site. However, we are able to provide streams to several of the projects listed on the Compositions page of our site.

Hopefully that's what the petition/talking to him is for I guess right? (^_^) Or getting to Saban Music is likely the answer. Or to get the yes or no.

The petition is a plea to Saban for the release of the Ghostbusters score. The interview I will be doing with Shuki Levy next month is to find out more about his work on the show and to ask if there is any possibility that this music will be released in the future.

This site has 2629 members and the petition has only received 52 signitures since it's creation in mid january. Disappointing.

Did you get your reply recently? I got mine.

Hi Zack,

I have passed on your kind comments to Shuki, he really appreciates the support.

Shuki has been busy working on his new film “Aussie and Ted.” There is a link on his site.

I'm not aware of a Real Ghostbusters soundtrack out there currently. Unfortunately the rights for all of Shuki's animated music belongs to the respective production companies, so it is up to them if they want to release a full soundtrack or not. If Shuki himself decides to produce an album featuring his animated music, it will be posted on his site.

Thanks for being a fan.

Best Wishes,

Tori

Signed. I'm glad to see that you're doing so much to pursue this, Matthew. I've always loved the tunes from the show, and it'd be great to have them collected into an official soundtrack. Maybe if this news about Time Life releasing the complete series becomes official, we could get word out to them that a CD with a few tracks from the show would make an awesome bonus feature.
