Sorry for bumping the topic, but I have some potential great news.

Bug Music has acquired the rights to control Saban Music Group's entire catalog of music a few months a go. The catalog “encompasses a slate of theme songs, cues and scores from more than 90 television series, 3,700 television episodes and 100 made-for-television films and specials.” Basically, Ghostbusters is BOUND to be in that vast catalog somewhere. Along with other cartoons that Haim Saban was producer of, like Inspector Gadget/He-Man etc.
But there are two things in the way of this being good news. First of all, while Bug Music has acquired rights to the catalog, that doesn't mean that they will release the music. Perhaps that's something to negotiate for. What they are planning with the music from what I've heard is to use the music as a library for shows to use for production (it's kinda like what the APM music library does, except this one is full of music from cartoons). Another thing that might be in the way of being good news is, is Ghostbusters even in the catalog? Granted while Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and 90 other shows are in the catalog, there's a pretty good chance that Ghostbusters is in there as well.
tl;dr - basically we have a new person to negotiate with, with more possibilities in seeing the release of the music in some form.
