Sorry for bumping the topic, but I have some potential great news.

http://www.mi2n.com/press.php3?press_nb=134685

Bug Music has acquired the rights to control Saban Music Group's entire catalog of music a few months a go. The catalog “encompasses a slate of theme songs, cues and scores from more than 90 television series, 3,700 television episodes and 100 made-for-television films and specials.” Basically, Ghostbusters is BOUND to be in that vast catalog somewhere. Along with other cartoons that Haim Saban was producer of, like Inspector Gadget/He-Man etc.

But there are two things in the way of this being good news. First of all, while Bug Music has acquired rights to the catalog, that doesn't mean that they will release the music. Perhaps that's something to negotiate for. What they are planning with the music from what I've heard is to use the music as a library for shows to use for production (it's kinda like what the APM music library does, except this one is full of music from cartoons). Another thing that might be in the way of being good news is, is Ghostbusters even in the catalog? Granted while Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and 90 other shows are in the catalog, there's a pretty good chance that Ghostbusters is in there as well.

tl;dr - basically we have a new person to negotiate with, with more possibilities in seeing the release of the music in some form.

Thankyou for the info. It's very much appreciated. Although I haven't been active here for a while I haven't given up the hunt for Shuki Levys recordings. I've just been extremely busy with other things. I still have a few ideas in mind which I will push forward with when I get the time.

I could swear I've signed it before, but better safe than sorry. I know I still want this.

Any news on the ressurection of the Real Ghostbusters soundtrack? Signed the petition. Now I begin wondering when the trolls start bitching about bumping this epic thread…(;_

Why'd you go have to stir up that hornet's nest again?

This is your first official warning, if you continue to insult the people who've disagreed with you and accuse them of trolling (which is all you've done in response since the necroposting of this topic was criticised), you will be suspended from the forum.

There has been no news, which you would've gathered without needing to post a new reply to the topic.

This topic shall now be locked for a period of one week for review. I strongly suggest you familiarise yourself with the rest of what the forum has to offer.

I contacted Bug Music Group regarding the deal with Saban and whether or not they recived copies of these songs, and they responded:

Bug Music
We’ve searched our Archives for both the UK and US extensively and unfortunately, no we don’t have any of the titles/recordings.

I couldn’t say whether our US office will at some point in the future however for now unfortunately we can’t help.

It now seems most likely Sony would probably be the only ones to have copies of this stuff (except maybe Shuki Levi, or maybe DiC, which was bought out by Cookie Jar Entertainment and has ignored my e-mails).

I had tried contacting Sony using a form on their site for purchasing material for personal or professional use, and the guy who responded said he believed the music rights were with Sony Television from when they got the rights to the show, and that the song was unavailable at this time, that was a few years ago.

Sadly, this is my first time reading his response.

Given the chance I would love to have ripped him a new one.
