I actually don't find it as fun as everyone says it is. It's ok, and definably good graphics wise, but the game play doesn't really remind me of Ghostbusters that much a side from some of the boss trapping. Other than that, it seemed more like a generic action game than a ghostbuster game.

Who else thought this improved over those two NES pieces of garbage?

The first is a crappy port of a similar game on other home systems (based on the first movie) which involves driving to a location and then catching some ghosts when you get there, with a final stage at the apartment building.
The second is a side-scroller (based on the second movie) including driving section and statue of liberty section.
The third is known as “new Ghostbusters II” and was Europe/PAL only AFAIK and featured the selectable characters and the top-down view.
