The X-Files: I Want To Believe - Post Viewing Discussion

SPOILERS

So, for anyone who's seen this FRANKLY amazing movie, feel free to come here and discuss it.

For me, I felt it was a fantastic film which felt to me to be in the true spirit of The X-Files, despite the lack of UFOs and aliens. I felt that the dynamic between Mulder and Scully was just perfect and it was so good that they acknowledged all their development from the show (stupid reporters asking if M&S will finally get together after they were blatantly together before S9…). I loved Skinman's beautiful, if minor appearance towards the end, it was great to see him taking care of Mulder when he was near death.

I thought they executed the movie very cleverly as well, with the bulk of it just feeling like a crime drama with a slight twist with Billy Connoly having a psychic connection, the actual real X-File only appeared towards the end, and by that time the majority of the film would have been enjoyed. As such, newcomers less into the paranormal will enjoy it, as will old time fans. I'm saddened that this film didn't do so well in America, but I think they should have released it in Winter, due to the film's ice theme, and the competition with Batman.

Back on track, my only concern with the film is the fact that Mulder is now back in the spotlight, and whilst the FBI probably don't care about him, the super soldiers probably do, and he still seems like he's in danger from them…. I can't help but wonder if Film 3 will begin with an attempt on his life….

Anyway, despite 2* reviews from certain magazines, I think this film did an amazing job of reuiniting us with Mulder and Scully, and I can't wait to get it on

Though X-Files were about paranormal phenomena… never liked it.

Kinda hate it, and I think this movie came out a little bit late, or the cult for this TV show still stands?

There's still a huge following of “X-Philes” (X-Files versions of Ghostheads), late? It's only 6 years after the show ended and 10 after the first movie? But if Indiana Jones 4 (18 years I believe) and The Mummy 3 (7 years) aren't “late” then why should this be?

I didn't really like it. I can't point out anything particular, but overall it was just underwhelming.

I really didn't like the movie that much to be honest. It seemed TOO much like a 2 hour “Monter of the week” episode just like the series.
It did have some intresting frankenstein-ish moments..

Did like the thing with George Bush in the FBI Office though….

…really?

I have to be that guy?

Ok.

SCULLY GOOGLES STEM CELLS!

She's supposed to be some kickass doctor and she googles “stem cells”. Like my doctor sits down and googles “heart disease.” She might as well have checked wikipedia.

Other than the google incident, it was fine. :-)
