Hmmmm…..
All of these have potential, but the toys may have the least backing.
However, the toy line may actually happen, but we might have to wait for a year or two.
Case in point: Howard the Duck.
No, seriously, think about it. For years, HTD fans have been wanting figures for years, as well as a new comic. Two years ago, around November of ‘01, Marvel released HTD as part of it’s new mature line, Marvel MAX. The book sold incredibly well, but Joe Quesada decided to nix the continuation of the series, much to the chagrin of fans everywhere. After the mini-series concluded, there was nary a peep, let alone a quack, from Marvel about America's favorite much-maligned mallard.
Until now.
In the August issue of Toyfare, there was a report about the upcoming wave of the Marvel Legends figures: Mr. Fantastic (Reed Richards), Colossus, the Red Skull, the Silver Surfer, and…. (My God, is this true? Is this not a hoax?) HOWARD THE DUCK?! Finally, after years of neglect, Howard is getting a decent share of the limelight.
The moral: I'm not saying that we won't get new GB figs, and I'm not saying that we will, I'm just saying that maybe we ought to wait for a while before we bombard toy companies again. True, we've been waiting since the early 90's for decent figures, but we might have to wait a bit longer than we want.
