For anyone going to Akon, it's a bit of a mad house so maybe all of us Ghostheads could meet up together. Not to mention the food at the hotel is kind of crappy but there is a set of Fast Food Places just down the block inside of a hotel.

No, but seriously, he's right. You don't need an excuse for your GF. Tell her you're going, and if she has an issue with it, that's her problem. If she doesn't want you to go that's just her “too bad”. She'll deal with it. If its something that you care about and want to do, she should care enough to not try to stop you.
