If this topic or my comments are considere bad/discriminating/taboo please feel free to delete and accept my apologies.

First of all firing Imus is not the answer. I am white and I do not agree with racisim at all. However the comments made by Imus were not that bad. Here are my points:

1. How do we know they are not hoes? Just b/c someone (men can be hoes too) is intelligent and succesful does not mean they don't sleep around or aren't very sexually active. Also I don't think they should be talking when all of them have a 99% chance that they have either called their own friends or enemies hoes either in a hateful or playful demeanor. So with that being said it does make them hypocrits.

2. The Nappy-Headed comment is one that is used quite often by everyone, by anyone towards anyone with nappy/crappy/afroish type hair which who is to say they don't have that kind of hair. More often than not it is the black community that has it, which is commonly acknowledged especially by the black community. Now my g/f is a hair stylist, and nappy-haired is a term widely used when refering to that type of hair. All races use that term, to describe that type of hair on any races head. Blacks even often refer to their own hair as nappy. My friend who is black often refers to her hair as nappy which is why she says she buys wigs and hair extensions. So the term nappy-haired can refer to any race, and if those girls wanna say they were discriminated b/c they have nappy hair when they have probably said the same about others even thier own…is hypocritical.

All in all here, Imus comments are hateful/demeaning/ or just comments of opinions about how he feels thier hair looks, and what their sexual activity is. Should he have said it…no, he should've known that the media/black community/ along with the other races in fear of retaliation would blow this thing way out of porportion. These are words used everyday by everyone to describe or discriminate against ppl.

This situation has turned into this:

The team has turned this simple comment into a huge publicity stunt that will gain them so many recruits, so many millions through different endeavors, and so much good publicity they will be confused with angels sent from heaven sitting in their dorm rooms calling each other hoes while laughing and brushing out each others hair saying how nappy it is. Meanwhile Jesse and others are jumping on the bandwagon to boost their own causes and to make money. Poor Imus who should be given the suspension for making stupid comments being a dumba$$, not thinking that this would be overblown and over exposed is getting fired.

I could go on forever but I will end this rant, if anyone wants to further argue feel free. If I am wrong or you can change my mind I welcome it. This was just the tip of the iceberg, the underlying issues go so deep we would probably need a whole new forum for it, lol. Take care and remember true racism is horrible, but to use it for personal gain (attacker or victim) is even worse.

I think he got what he deserved. Apparently the guy made the comments jokingly, but he obviously should've thought twice before doing so. Personally, I don't agree with such comments being made at all, even in jest. And when you've got your own talk show, even if you're accustomed to making controversial comments, you've still always got to watch what you say. There are lines that must not be crossed, such as the sensitivity in society about potentially racist remarks, especially against African-Americans. Even Ann Coulter knows not to do that.

For one, those were very unprofessional comments no matter who he was talking about. He's like the host of a news show, he's not a color commentator! And I don't know if it's so much the nappy part, but a news anchor is suppose to be doing his job, instead he's talking about people's sexuality or whatever. You just said How do we know they are not hoes?. Well how do you know they are hoes? It's innocent until proven guilty. If he doesn't know whether they're hoes or not, he shouldn't say it. And again, even if they were hoes, his job isn't to report things like that. You don't see Al Roker calling Paris Hilton a hoe when he's suppose to be talking about the weather.

Regarless of whether it's actually true… you can't call a woman a ‘ho’ and not expect some type if repercussion. Frankly, their sex life is their own business unless they're doing some like child abuse or date rape… but that's not the issue. Beside, should they call their friends or enemies ‘ho’ it's either meant as a friendly jib or a deliberate insult.

It's like how you'll see rappers use the term ‘nigger’ or some gay people use the term ‘fag’, I think it's because the words lose their racial connotation when used by someone that the word was originally used as an insult for.

So a woman calling another woman a ‘ho’ can either be used as a friendly term, or just meant as an insult… but if it's used on the court it's rarely heard and it's not the same as someone saying it on a live radio broadcast.

It doesn't make them hypocrites.

2. The Nappy-Headed comment is one that is used quite often by everyone, by anyone towards anyone with nappy/crappy/afroish type hair which who is to say they don't have that kind of hair. I've never once heard such a comment ever used to describe an afro… could be we're just open to different regional dialects but that was something new I'd learned… even if it is an accepted term in some circles he still didn't need to use it.

All in all here, Imus comments are hateful/demeaning/ or just comments of opinions about how he feels thier hair looks, and what their sexual activity is. Should he have said it…no, he should've known that the media/black community/ along with the other races in fear of retaliation would blow this thing way out of porportion. 'Fear of retaliation?' ‘Blown out of proportion?’ It probably got blown out of proportion when he had to get Al Sharpton on his show… but the man made some poor judgements when it came to what he said on his show and overblown or not he's reaping the consequences. He's not being made a scape goat by people who don't want to look weak in the eyes of the leaders of black communities.

And there you have a small point, the event is likely being milked for what it's worth by both sides… but he made the comments in the first place. I'm also sensing this deep resentment for the team, and your jumping to conclusions about what they do… insinuating that they call themselves ‘hos’ and saying that their hair is ‘nappyish’.

Wow. That's your opening argument? I declare myself the winner, and I haven't even said anything.
