TimeLife: The Real Ghostbusters - Complete Collection

Just got hold of a copy of this and it's great to finally have all the episodes on DVD!

Am very puzzled as to why Time Life have kept in all the advert messages during the start, middle and end of each episode. They're incredibly annoying and ruin the flow of the show…

Also, why have most of the Tahiti songs that were played in certain episodes been replaced with the theme tune! Have noticed this substitution on ‘Knock Knock’ and ‘Venkman’s Ghost Repeller's' so far. Could Time Life not get clearance to use the Tahiti stuff on this release?

These are quibbles though, as the rest of the content is great!

The Tahiti songs still feature in a few of the episodes on the set, it's likely due to some of the masters they used being from later runs, after the Tahiti stuff had been removed by whichever network owned that particular master tape.

The missing Tahiti songs and terrible damage on Night Game are my main big contentions with this set. Shame as it's generally nice. I've still got the original versions of ‘Knock Knock’ and ‘Venkman’s Ghost Repeller's' on VHS to watch thankfully. ‘Knock Knock’ is one of my favourite episodes, and it definately suffers from the music alteration.

What's wrong with Night Game? I was aware of the visual damage on The Old College Spirit, but I didn't know there was a problem with Night Game.

I kind of like the bumpers between the commercial breaks. It takes me back to when I watched it for the first time on t.v.

I kind of think it completes the set.

In ‘Night Game’, are you referring to the bottom of the screen to what appears is a VHS style tracking issues that frequently appears? I have that issue with my disc and a few others have said they've seen it too.

I love the bumpers!

It might've been nice if they included an option to view them or not, given that they do get kind of annoying if you're watching a marathon of episodes, but if you're just watching 1 or 2, I love it. Totally brings me back to my childhood.

They should've been a special feature, rather than in every episode.

There is a weird screen roll effect whenever it goes from one scene to another in the episode. Its odd, cause to be honest its not very noticeable, but if you started screen capping parts of the episode it becomes noticeable. At least it did running it in VLC on my computer anyways.

Look at this screencap….

Agreed. it does get abit much seeing them so often, and they essentially act as un unnescarry disrution to the story flow. OF course, from my perspective, being in the Uk, these werent used here as the original TV boradcasts on CiTV didn't have adverts, so it's even more annoying from that point.

The Night Game issue for me, is very noticeable. It is available on an ealier DVD release, free from this issue apparently? I might pick that up if I can find it cheap, and transfer it along with VHS rips of Knock Knock and Venkman's Ghost Repellers onto a new disc.
