I wouldn't be surprised if those ridiculously high-end bids are done by peope who are fully against ‘scalpers’ which is pretty much what these people are.

They bump the price to something astronomical, then don't pay. Sign up as a different user, and do it all again.

Elmo has always stirred up the pot as far as flustered parents go. Ever since the whole blitzkrieg over “Tickle Me Elmo,” you'd think that toy companies would catch on.

Oh, I'm sure they can make enough, but then you wouldn't have the media blitzes, or the marketing sales graphs saying that demand is greater than supply.

It looks great in a boardroom. That's why this happens.

Little do they realize (or care) that the only ones who get the biggest disappointments are the children who didn't get one after the mad dash by parents.
