I honestly enjoy reading this discussion and I don't want to insult anyone BUT - as has been said before - could this Ghost Trek guy PLEASE stop typeing this fast without looking or have someone check his typeing before submitting the message. To quote Monty Python's mr Gumby:“MY BRAIN HURTS!” |
Anyway, go on with the discussion, I'd say.

And, to actually say something about the topic, even though I wouldn't like to admit it to all the We-Want-GB3 people (including myself somehow), I have to agree with Zack's first message in this thread. :f

Let's Ghostbusters conquer the world again by using the stuff that's already there (apart from the Red-Ketchup-related comic stuff of course)!

It has to be said, GB was NOT a teen/kids film and itwas excellent for it! The few sex jokes that there were, were tasteful, and there were no toilet jokes.

It seems that there is a strong possibility that GB3 may end up like MIB which WAS a teen flick, and WAS full of toilat humour and distasteful sex jokes (mainly from Mr Will Smith which is exactly why he would be a bad ghostbuster!

If you look on Agent K from MIB as the OGBs and Agent Jas the new GBs then you get a clear picture of what GB3 could turn out like! Now… I ask what if MIB had been about K and another more “senior” agent? Would this have had a more “Ghostbuster-esqu” feel to it? yes!

I myself believe that it would be VERY easy for GB3 to end up as a trashy teen flick that no one gies a second glance, I made this perfectly clear here:

Howevr, I do believe that there is a slim chance that the sequel may be spooktaular, if you forgive the pun! And I hold out till that day…

I perish the thought of GB3 turning out like the dismall Jurassic Park 3!

Thats what I'm saying. The movies would be made for “today's audiance”, just like Jason X was -ugh-, for what they call “the matrix-kids” and lets face it. right now, in time, things just arent as magical as they were in te early 80s to the eary 90s.

I personaly think GBIII would be just fine if it came from the great minds that made the first (Dan Akroyd/Harold Ramis) and if they were to over see production and such. Now I am sure that one of the reasons the first two were such a success is partly due to the fact that individuals such as Ivan, Harold, Bill, Dan, and I believe Rick (correct me if I am wrong and I may be but any way… ) had a previous history together with Stripes and what-not… However I also feel another reason for their success is due to the fact that the minds that concieved it were who they were. I deeply believe that should these great minds have as big a hand in GBIII as they did in the first two it would be just as big a success as the first two. I do agree that they may be too old to play the parts they did in the 80's but then again maybe we are not giving them enough credit… I would love to see some more ghostkicking but I also dont want to see it flop as was previously said. We'll just have to see what happens.

Sorry guys i dont think i could go through life knowing there is know chance of a gb3. Come on guys I would support a new ghostbusters movie no matter what circumstances. I need more than a two-bit cartoon show that is all new aged. Come on it would be funny to see the ghostbusters out on one last run. I see your point but ghostbusters will never die. We can't let it die. Us ghostheads need to stick with ghostbusters through thick and thin. We need to never give up hope for one day ghostbusters will rise up and victory will be ares. We need to show Sony that this isnt just a small fan club but it is a large group. If you see someone that says that they have never seen ghostbusters you need to lone them your tape or go over to there house. If you really believe in this franchise you will do ANYTHING to keep it alive. :d

oh yeah and have faith in the fathers of ghostbusters. Ray and Egon would never let gb3 turn into a teen flick. Do not dought their judgment.

Okay…. Interesting dicussion.
In my OPINION, its never gonna' happen, and if it does, everyone is going to regret it. They will make it in a way where it will sell better to todays people. They will include crappy slang, new fads, and it just won't have that same ‘ghostbusters feeling’. 2nd, the special effects are going to be different. I enjoy the classic streams, but I fear that they would be redone if a 3rd one is made. I know Dans script is original to Ghostbusters, but I'm sure it would be revised by SONY. We were all lucky just to get Ghostbusters 2, and I think the Ghostbusters Community will live on without it.
Also, if you have a craving for new GB films, A lot of people are making fan films, including myself (release date to be anounced). Be thankful for what we have.
