TWO new GhosBusters games in development.

Just a quick note to say that there are two new GhostBusters games in development, thanks to the www.RetroRemakes.com competition.

The games are most likely going to be heavily based on the C64 GhostBusters game, although with improvements in graphics and sfx etc. Hopefully the main game will be padded out a bit too.

Whilst there's nothing to show, the developers are well known (in fact Loki won the last RR comp), so they all have a proven track history.

Smila+Stu recently finished a fantastic looking remake of Paradroid and have also worked together on CHOLO and Total Eclipse. The graphical talents of Smila know no bounds - he really is a pixelpusher (in fact, it's his job too), so expect it to look awesome.

See HERE

I am a Moderator over at www.retroremakes.com and one of the five judges of this comp. I'll keep you all informed of progress and show screenies of both games as and when I see them.

If anyone else wants to have a bash at the comp, then please do so - there are over £4000 of prizes on offer

So, there you have it.

Will it be available for download or not?

The competition lasts for three months and after that all games will be available freely to download from retroremakes and the author's sites.

It would appear that another GB game has now been added, making THREE new GB games

Add another one to the list! There appears to be FOUR new games in development for the competition.

Here is an image from Smila's version - Mr Staypuft, come on down

Whilst there is some p1$$ taking on the forums about the number of GB games in progress, there is a real want for them.

More progress as and when

Its almost a mute point to ask at this point. Unless you have a MAC that doesn't have intel inside. Which includes me. Will these upcoming games work on a MAC without having to run a Windows emulator?

Hope the game developers keep that in mind. Then again I'm not sure how hard it would be to code it for non intel Macs as well.

Regardless I like the ‘screen cap’ of Mr. Stay Puft and look forward to seeing more from these 4 or more developers.

Its almost a mute point to ask at this point.

Don't you mean moot point? It's not a silent point, its pointless…. moot. Or as Joey on Friends would say, its like a cow's opinion, its moo. (*peter)

The aim of the competition is to create retro remakes for Windows based pc's I'm afraid.

There is a very slim chance that a version may be cross-compatible, but I wouldn't hold my breath on that.

I said it right, just spelled it wrong. :p

Its too bad about the Windows only games. That's alright if you're all misguided. :p Mac users can run Windows games using a program like Virtual PC if Mac users really need to run “PC” software. Or if one has a newer intel based Mac, they can download this program (boot something) and actually install XP. Gaming on the pro level isn't an issue like it use to be.

Nonetheless, I'll be promoting these retro GB games on our site, Ghostbusters International®. You can check the site this weekend or next for news about it.

Thanks for responding to my post.
