The extras that are only found on the complete set include model sheets for the character art and props, the isolated music/audio effect tracks, and most significantly: The original Real Ghostbusters promo animation.

What does having the extras matter anyway? Thanks in advance.

It doesn't really, lol. As I say, I never watch them when they put them on DVD's anyway, but it's just nice to think I got my monies worth. For £4.99 though, it's a great deal anyway so suppose I can't complain!

Very true. Anyway, Kingpin I have watched the original Real Ghostbusters promo animation on YouTube using this link:-

What other extras are on the complete collection that are worth seeing?

Thanks in advance, James. :-)

From a technical point of view, there's something interesting about the new transfers compared to the previous PAL releases (and my off-airs) - they've reconstructed the original frames and sped the whole thing up by 4% from 24fps to 25fps. Previous releases (including Citizen Ghost on the movie set) were standards conversions from NTSC. You can see the difference if you step through frame by frame; previous releases contain a lot of frames that are blends of more than one original image, whereas the new transfers are more stable. This is particularly noticable on panning shots across the background.

If they go ahead and release the syndicated season on PAL it will be interesting to see how they handle the conversion - around half of those episodes have blended fields, even on the NTSC complete collection. I'm assuming better copies no longer exist or Andy Mangels and the team would have used them there. So if a PAL release had only frame stable episodes, they'd be the best quality versions out there…

Even though this release is devoid of special features, can you say if the episodes are the new re-mastered versions that Time Life used for their set?

Cheers

Picked this up earlier and watched a couple of episodes. The picture quality was great, and it does indeed look like they've used new re-mastered transfers, but I noticed the episode title captions (just after the opening titles finish) were missing from the start of every episode, which I was disappointed with.

Were the episode titles also missing on the time life box set?

Cheers

Nope, still there. Even has those commercial bumpers with the no ghost logo.

Those I could've done without, especially as they caused the episode title cards to lose their backing music. They should've been on the Special Features disc.

The DVD is out here in Belgium. And so is EGB season 1. Awesome.
