As i watched the films over and over i noticed differnces in the Particle Streams. in GB1 the streams are more steady, and more powerfull, also there colour is much darker. in GB2 the streams seemed more unstable, and weak, and a little too bright for my taste. I just thought it was kinda wierd that the FX guys did this to the streams.

That's because the SFX team and equipment was different for the second movie, not because of a difference in Proton Pack function. Just thought I'd let you know.

Maybe after 5 years the guys decided to FINALY tone down the level of destruction on the packs. I mean, do you REALLY need a stream with enough power to blow up a bar (almost) just to catch a class-5?

No offense intended, but how could you tell that the streams were more powerful in GB1 than in GB2? It's anaccepted fact that in the hotel, the boys didn't really know how the packs worked, right? Maybe they had the intensity/power turned up higher in the hotel than in GB2. I think it was because it was better to make sure the ghost stayed inside the confinment stream (using a higher power) then to not use enough power, and have the ghost escape. In GB2, the boys had a lot more experience with their packs, and knew how much juice to really use.

I think it was more that in Ghostbusters 2, they were better shots. They didn't destroy as much of the courtroom…and bagged the Scoleri brothers pretty fast, really…

I've also noticed that what I call “Stream Ripple” only exists if the gun is moved during firing. So that whole better shots thing isn't right. If you notice that in the beginning of GB1 the streams were wild, but in the end, they were much more straight and steady with very little stream ripple. In gb2 the artists and equipment was different, so it was done different, but with a same feel. That's why. The FX Company, Boss Films, who did GB, wasn't the company who did GB2. That was ILM. Plus the second movie was less serious and more child like than the first one.
