Value of MIB Toys?

I was looking on eBay for certain Ghostbusters toys recently when I came across some auctions for The Real Ghostbusters. These items (not the first figures) from the ‘80s are mint in box. I know they have value, I also know some of these sellers automatically see $$$ and kinda jack up the prices.

I’m wondering if anyone knows what a RGB toy trap, Ecto-1, and the firehouse are worth mint in box? Toys are supposedly perfect with maybe some minor wear to boxes. ie: Shelf wear.

If you're on other GB message boards, you may see this posted verbatim.

Trap, about $75. Ecto-1, anywhere from $100-125. Firehouse, $250-300.

I'm not sure how much they are worth now, but I bought a MIB RGB Trap, Ecto-1 and Firehouse 5 or 6 years ago, and they cost me about 70-90 each. Paid a lot shipping for the Firehouse, of course.

The one in the worst condition is the Ecto-1 (one of the flaps on the box is ripped) but otherwise, it's mint (at least the content is mint). The Firehouse has a new tape because the original one started to peel a bit but was never opened. The Trap is in perfect condition.

I'd say their value probably doubled, but I wouldn't bet on it… I'm no expert, so I probably didn't store them properly, and haven't had them evaluated to see the EXACT mint level.

A real collector would probably give me less than what I'd like for them, but I guess it would sell on Ebay at that price due to the rarity and current GB Hype.

But I'm happy with them, for my personal little collection

Thanks for the responses and the insight. I decided not to buy The RGB trap mint in box. Partially because I spent more on bidding on the ECTO-1 MIB. Within range though. Also, hopefully within 2 years we'll know if Matty will be offering the trap, movie version. I also decided to opt out on buying the firehouse MIB. If I wasn't going to build it and display it I couldn't justify to myself the expense. I did fairly well in my opinion with the other MIB RGB toys I won.

If you want to find out the real worth of such items, generally you can subscribe to collectors price guides. They usually list the value of an item on card, off card, damaged card, etc. Personally, I'd never spend that much on a toy from the old show, because I would immediately open it and play with it.

Also, you've gotta watch that stuff closely. I have a whole attic full of toys, store displays, models, variants, etc of stuff from The Lost World, and it's never appreciated, only taken up lots of space.
