VIGO was in the Ghostbusters videogame!
I thought the painting was destroyed!

Yea. I think everyone is pretty much aware of that fact. It was kind of hard to miss… and there's been much discussion about it.

While they don't really explain why he's back as the painting instead of the one of the 4 GBs and Oscar, one can assume that its simply that he was trapped back in the painting when the Ghostbusters blasted him, and maybe he used whatever little paranormal energy he has left to make himself reappear on the canvas.

Yeah basically what I said in a nutshell in the other topic was Vigo wasn't destroyed at the end of GB2 because ghosts CAN'T be destroyed. He was just sealed back inside the painting and it turned into a picture of the guys and Oscar because it's magic paint that responds to mood and everyone was celebrating New Year's. Once the city returned to it's normal miserable state, it would've changed back to Vigo.
