Vote for 2010 Igor Awards

This is my third annual knockoff of the Oscars. Known in its inaugural year as the Felix Awards, I needed to change the name, and I decided upon Igor since nobody else has used it, though I think Oskar would be a funny name or Ozkor.

I did this original in 2008 since the Oscars snubbed Rob Zombie's Halloween remake and a few other movies. I did it last year, too, since the Oscars overlooked The Dark Knight in many major categories.

Here are the 2010 nominees. You can vote for more than one and the winners will be announced sometime to coincide with the Oscars March 7, 2010. (More nomionees may be added later, bear with me…)

The whole “Best Picture” category is invalidated by having a Twilight movie as one of the entries. 2012 is better than New Moon.

What's with your hard-on for hating “Halloween II”?

John Carpenter gave his blessings for Zombie to remake “Halloween” and Zombie kept in contact with John to see what Michael would or wouldn't do.

I think it's due to the recasting of the actor who played Michael.

I think it has more to do at how surprisingly dull the remakes were. Some franchises just do not transfer over well.

I think it's due to the recasting of the actor who played Michael.

It has everything to do with Daeg being replaced by that poser Vanek. Also, there was the white horse nonsense I keep hearing about; Sherri Moon was part of the reason Daeg was fired; the Halloween II wasn't even used at all until the end of the movie, or so I've heard; it bankrupted the Weinsteins, and their only source of income last year (and this year) was a Quentin Tarantino WWII/Nazi satire.

What's not to hate about H2? And I haven't even seen it yet. I have never been so skeptical of a Halloween movie (with Michael Myers in it) in my life.

The fuck kinda logic is that? You didn't see the movie but you go out of your way to rip on it every way possible and include it in all your categories.

Is the only reason that this “Sebastian” movie, which I've never heard of, at the top of your “best trailer” list, and even on the list, because it stars Daeg Faerch?

It's just a tad transparent.

The IMDB summary of “Sebastian” also makes it sound quite mediocre.

Nope. The reason it's at the top is because, I nixed the idea of nominating a film that hadn't even come out yet against movies that had been out a while. So I created the Best Trailer category for films not yet released as of the cutoff date February 2 (the date the Oscar nominations were read). I thought, why vote for a film that hasn't even come out yet?

The reason it's at the top of the list is because it was the first one to pop in my head. I listed everything as they popped in my head, and I never did get around to alphabetizing anything.

The IMDB summary of “Sebastian” also makes it sound quite mediocre.

The storyline is what got me hooked. That, and the fact that his mother Mickey has a small role in it. At the time, IMDb had Vanek credited as playing Sebastian (Yeeee-ucko!), but Daeg confirmed that he is playing the role… which I am very much glad.

I have a strong feeling that this movie is gonna go places and be huge. I see it being more than just some straight-to-video film you can rent for $5 at Blockbuster. Or worse, being a SyFy original movie. (*egon) The aspect ratio is 2.35:1 and I would love to see that on the big screen. I'd love to see any of the nominees in that category on the big screen, and most of them will be.

Due to lack of voting, I have decided to close the ballot this year. Then I'm gonna write up a fictional telecast announcing the winners. Stay tuned!

Might I suggest for next time, in order to prevent the appearance of being bias to a movie and or actor, placing all entries of all categories in alphabetical order…as opposed to the order they just happen to pop into your head
