So the part where Seb said we'd be getting weekly updates on the book…guess those arent coming.

He's mostly guilty of making commitments online that he can't keep…

To be honest, if it's getting more work finalised… I'd rather he spent the time getting it done then posting weekly updates…

But… well, we'll have to see how things work out. Have you visited Weaver Hall? There might be something there.

There isn't. What a joke. I can't tell you the number of times I've thought - maybe Seb is going to do something he says he's going to, and it's all going to turn around. And then it doesn't. I'm totally willing to put my faith behind the guy the minute he gives me a reason to. Until then, good luck getting your hardcovers, guys.

Isn't it just a little unfair to judge him before you know the reason behind the delay? Sure, it could be that he simply hasn't been able to do them, but don't cruicify the man before you know the reason… if he's able to mention it.

I think it wasn't a smart move to announce ‘weekly updates’ until he was sure he could achieve these without incident… but that's me personally.

But it doesn't mean that the hardcover books are in any kind of a problem yet.

I personally have not bashed 88 mph comics yet for two reasons… One… have u seen the comics? They are fantastic. Two… With Sony running around screwing the GB license up the ass, I wouldnt be surprised if the book NEVER came out. So I take what I can get and mourn for the future of this great franchise. I understand why others would be pissed tho, especially those of you who have money spent on pre-orders and such.

If this was the first incident, then it would be different. However, this is only the latest in a string of broken promises or out and out lies on Clavet's part.

But it doesn't mean that the hardcover books are in any kind of a problem yet.

Riiiiight. Preorders were supposed to be closed in June. Still open. News was supposed to be forth coming, and it wasn't. In fact, until a certain (now removed) thread on Weaver Hall a mear two days before the last update, there was no sign of an update on the horizon.

Clavet sent out an official 88 MPH email over testing of his Weaver Hall forum rather an update on the product they've been collecting and holding money on for months.

Kingpin, on this and other forums you seem to have nothing but praise and support for 88. As a former staunch support of 88 MPH, I have been let down constantly since the time of the 3rd issue delay. Time and time again 88 has practiced piss poor business practices and has been holding thousands of it's customers dollars without producing a product without clear explanation, and you say the hardcore arn't in any kind of problem? Your faith is clouding your perceptions my friend.

For those who don't know, the last news update on the hardcover boiled down to the following.

“I'm waiting for an answer to a question I asked someone, and I might know in a few weeks.”

Somehow this does not fill me with confidence that (a): I will receive a product and (b): That there is even a product being worked on. Color me crazy, but when someone has been holding onto my money since May and this is the first update since June….it doesn't make me think that everything is fine and running smooth. In fact it makes me talk to my lawyers about a class action lawsuit for fraudulent and deceptive business practices against 88 MPH Studios.

Good call.

Way to overreact.

Why not just relax and enjoy the anticipation?

True, it's not the first incident, but we don't exactly have the full story going here… and… well, I don't think they're lies, just comments he made that might have been better being left unsaid until a better point in time.

Riiiiight. Preorders were supposed to be closed in June.

Sebastien left the preorders open to allow more people to order the book, he set the limit to 1000 and if that allows any more (If any people would believe more would buy it) people the opportunity to order it.

News was supposed to be forth coming, and it wasn't. In fact, until a certain (now removed) thread on Weaver Hall a mear two days before the last update, there was no sign of an update on the horizon.

And I know that, I think it was an unrealistic idea to announce weekly news when there still seems to be stuff going on, the Ectonews serves (kinda) well when we get it…

Clavet sent out an official 88 MPH email over testing of his Weaver Hall forum rather an update on the product they've been collecting and holding money on for months.

And that could bottle down to what he can and can't say, it's been obvious that there's stuff he can't tell us, whether it's a legal issue or not. I'm not trying to make excuses for him but see that there could be some reasonable reason. Aside from anything he has posted some stuff because he's had a forum to operate for his site.

'has been holding thousands of dollars' is a bit of a wild statement seeing as we don't know how many people have actually ordered the book, it could be a few hundred fo all we know. I'm not a completely staunch supporter, I was dissappointed in the delays as well as thinking the ‘weekly updates’ seemed a bit of impractical announcement. Sebastien has my money as well but I'm not out there with pitchforks or a lawsuit.

Aren't you the guy who made almost the exact same ‘civil lawsuit’ speech not too long ago?

someone's got to be the voice of reason, even if it seems that it's clouded judgement. Like Para-psychology_doc said that he was happy with the product, I'm happy with the product and it's not like complaining now is going to get anything done if it didn't get anything done months ago.

Rev, you seem to know something about business, and yet you can't grasp the GOD DAMN CONCEPT that in business there are certain kinds of GAG ORDERS on certain things. Seb said he's waiting for an answer. If he could REVEAL the specifics behind it, don'tcha think he WOULD? I mean, come on! You're dealing with Sony, you think they release every single piece of info?

You're not helping matters at all. All you're doing is starting a riot and proving that people in this day and age are too sue happy. So go ahead, sue. If the product comes out in the middle of your lawsuit I'll be the first to laugh.

If you're THAT PISSED OFF, cancel your f***ing order. Simply. But, yet, you haven't. Why is that, hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm?

Right, because ever since it was suggest that Clavet wasn't able to talk about his “question” that he “asked someone”, this unlikely “gag order” (or non-disclosure agreement) situation has become the standard line for all gushers to tow. It's not that Clavet doesn't have any information or real updates…it's that he isn't able to. How handy that works out.

NDAs are not that commonplace once a product has been announced, and to still be under one this late in the game is rather unlikely. In fact it's very unlikely. Chances are Clavet's under no such agreement. He never said he couldn't say. He just chose not to, which is why this “postface” question seems more and more bogus, like a stall tactic.

I realize there are a lot of people out there that want nothing more than to blindly rush to the 88's side and pretend that all this isn't happening, but it is. In light of everything that has transpired during this hardcover ordeal, every action to come out of 88 seems like a stall tactic and the gushers seem to be eating it up.

I'm sorry that you don't share my viewpoint, but that's how things are. I'm sorry that I don't have faith in a company I can't trust. I enjoyed Legion, helped to promote it locally and online. But I do not like nor support 88's current position of releasing no information to substantiate their delays in releasing the product, just as I don't like seeing their customers accepting such behavior.

Because Clavet has not responded to any email I've sent him maybe? Didja ever consider that?

The gushers arn't helping things. Rather than consider things rationally, one seems to go out of their way to make excuses for Clavet's puzzling behavior. All your doing is facilitating his continued holding of our money at this point with the “hope” that the hardcover will be released sometime. I'm sorry I don't have blind loyality to a company, but having been burned before I've learned to be a bit weary. Maybe after a few more incidents like this Ecto, and you will be too.
