What about a remake?

Comics aren't the only thing 88mph studios have done for Sony, from what I can remember there were some videogames that were created like the later Twisted Metals and others that were licensed under both companies (88mph and Sony computer entertainment of america)for the PSX.Sony relies on 88mph for alot of things so I don't think there would be any legal problems remaking the movies in graphic novel or comic form.

from what i've heard, 88mph is a new company. i'm sure there would be some large legal issues in doing a comic adaptation of the first film. aykroyd, ramis, murray, retiman, and medjuck would all have to agree to it being done, since they own the film rights. and yes, this includes the story. i wouldn't rule it out, though. it could easily happen, i just don't see it. IF it was done, i really wouldn't like to see it first off. it would seem awfully lazy of 88mph to start off with the movie first, rather than doing their own stories. a graphic novel would be cool, but i imagine 88mph has their own plans for the GB's.

I guess it just goes to show how much I'm still learning about the twists and turns of licensing. It was my thinking that Sony's control of the GB license would naturally extend to the story as well. Especially when we're talking a comic book, which is obviously going to be based on many of the story elements from the movie. If someone else holds the story itself as their own intellectual property, then that's a completely different story.

I think you're wrong about the thought of using the first story in the comics being lazy. That first movie probably covers a year in the lives of the Ghostbusters. I personally think it would be great to go back and fill in some of the blanks that the movie kinda skipped over. You still know where the end result is going to be, but you don't exactly know how it's going to get there.

actually, if you watch the movie, it all takes place within like 2 or 3 weeks or something like that

toygeek- i don't think an eveuntual adaptation would be bad, just not first off. i would like to see what 88mph can do with storylines and characters before we see something we are already familiar with. to me, it would be cool, but kinda boring. flashbacks set within new stoylines would be cool. anyway, i highly doubt we'll see an adaptation first off.

Nice. Thanks for the feedback! Something off topic, but what do you guys think the streams and ghost trap effect will look like in the comic?

Yeah, okay…“weeks to months”, I erred on the long side, I get it. Point was, there's a lot of the story we didn't see because all of that time was crammed into two hours. Going back and filling in the blanks would, in my opinion, be a great way to make sure everyone's on the same page for the transition between movie and comic.

I don't think that there is really much to fill in. Just random busts that took little to no effort. Also the comic couldn't serve as a link between GB 1 and 2 because GB 2 makes it seem like immediately after they defeated Gozer they had to stop busting because of the law suits and whatnot.
