*edit* aww, crap, lol! It just occured to me I already posted on this when I was…“wobbly”
Regardless, I removed my last in favor of a more…sober response!
I've been welding since 2003. Currently I'm looking into the Ironworking trade.
Back in the day, I started on truck parts, got my pressure cert, ended up in another structural shop that did a lot of skids, moved onto a vessel shop where they eventually made me a leadhand of one of their structural contracts before moving me down to the vessel end. The current shop I work in builds a lot of mobile oilfield buildings the length of semi trailers, all out of steel.
A guy I worked with took this picture in the last shop I worked. Me, hard at work in a big pylon, lol. The walls were maybe, 5/8“ at most, but the base where it bolts onto another larger cone was about 4” thick! It was about 15' tall, with a nozzle on top! You can't see it in the picture, because the manway or whatever is in the way, but it was a fun one to get at!
