a Rival GB group wouldn't suck t'all! It'd only make sense that someone else would be out there trying to capitalize on they're acheivements and tech.
I also wouldn't mind an explaination as to why no-one believes in ghosts in GBII… but since GBII might not even happen in the comic reality, its a ….moot point.
I totally agree and I look forward to what the comics and the new novel (which is set after GB II) has to say about the enterprise of Ghostbustering and the day to day stuff we got to see (partly) in RGB but never saw in the movies since they were more focused on getting rid of large ghosts.
it seems that is what aykroyd has wanted for quite some time. the second draft of the GB script ends with the GBs being a large franchise. also, the first draft of HELLBENT has the GBs as a large corporation with many employees.
I like that idea, but I would want to see the transition. I wouldn't feel really comfortable with GB III, the novel, comic, or anything related to open with the GBs owning a huge franchise.
I would want to see the nitty gritty day to day stuff, and then see a better funded company try to compete. Chock full of a organization and different methodologies we could see the two outfits compete. The Ghostbusters would be more like Ghost Janitors, having to be resourceful, but they are on top of their game. They invented Ghostbusting and they know what's up.
You could see the other, well funded outfit, copying off the Ghostbusters and see them get into a few jams where the GBs would have to clean up their messes. The GBs get funding from the board of directors of the competing outfit and they grow into a huge corporation, that is a whole other chapter in of itself.
Basically what I'm saying is that I'm all for the franchising angle. I just think we need to see the transition and the more day to day activities.
