What else is there . . .

I was thinking about this a few minutes ago. Then I read the thread about the backup site, and I saw Bobby J.'s post which put more motivation into this post I'm making. At one time in the community there were alot of sites popping up that all had something different. Now all that's being made are sites that are either about something personal (by this I mean the site revolves around the webmasters gb project), or is something that's been done before. There's nothing bad about this, it just means that people want to get in on the website thing to give back to the community. Now for the question. What else is there left to do? What hasn't been done. We have fan art sites, message boards, information sites, fan project sites, etc . . . If you have ideas for sites, post them here! (yes I am trying to come up with and idea to make a site, but I'm not gonna do everything suggested :p)

Something I've always found encouraging about the community is that there is always something new, some new type of project or information that people can make for sites. What that is, I don't know. And it's sometimes hard to find. But every once in a while I'll find a site I never knew existed, and has a lot of really cool information and features. So it's always possible.

I wouldn't have done a site if I didn't have an original premise…

I agree with all you guys are saying. I remember back in in 1996 we all had to work hard to create something new. Retelling fans what the plot of Ghostbusters, as informative as it might be, serves no purpose. I'm just very picky about what I'm seeing on the net.

The reason my original site changed to it's current name and status is because people keep doing the same thing over and over, and my site couldn't keep up. My site can keep up with it's current subject, however.

There is so much all of you can do, that you are not seeing. Even if it isn't a big site, but is just different. Lets say you decided to make the Ecto-1 model, and photograph each step, and customize it out. Wouldn't that be cool, and original? Not really.. but I'd still check it out.

Your site doesn't have to be brand new, and everything. It just needs to have something people want to see. Maybe you want to make a site that has all the music to films, you could have lyrics, and copies of the songs. Original no.. but if someone is looking for those kinds of thing… people will go and get them there. Or if you have copies of the scripts, lets say you wanted to make a site comparing the script to the movie adding in pictures and sound files as you go.. and commenting on how the script differs from the movie? Original? No, it has been done.. But cool? Would you check it out? Yeah.

Now all that's being made are sites that are either about something personal (by this I mean the site revolves around the webmasters gb project), or is something that's been done before.

But it's not true! My own site is a very original idea. At least for Ghostbusters it is. Imagine every Ghostbusters-related file available on the internet in one place. That was the idea for my site. That's what my site is. I decided that's what I'd do, and I did it. There's no better place to get GB ROMs (every other site is missing some, and even my site is missing one very hard to find), there's no better place to get RGB MP3s (in fact there's no OTHER place to RGB MP3s). There's no better place to check the value of your GB collection (most comprehensive price guide EVER!).

Go out, do something either original, or cool. Look at what some people have done! You can be just as original as anyone else!
