What if we got a remake instead of a 3rd film?

I can't say I wouldn't be curious about a remake considering the advance in technology these days.(Books on a string lol)

That serves as one of a million examples as to why Hollywood has lost sight a bit in terms of special effects, sometimes the simplest effects are the best.

Less than $100-$200 of wire, guiding rigs and books. The salary for the CGI artist to render that would be significantly higher…

I don't want a remake. Hollywood is so stupid now a days because they can't come up with new ideas so instead of making new movies they remake old ones. I wish people could come up with an original idea. But no! Instead we get remakes!

Remakes are easier to do than coming up with newer ideas because the idea is already rooted and the writer just needs to change the idea a little.

Moving the setting to the future/past sounds like an even worse idea than a straightforward remake + moving it out of New York.
Wasn't there a comic series about the ghostbusters in various time periods? Was that story bad?

The story you speak of, Displaced Aggression, was excellent, but it worked as a comic, moving the events of Ghostbusters to the future would not work nearly as well for a movie.

The only thing I can think of that a remake would do right is make Ghostbusters with Winston in a more prominent role. Maybe even have him as a student who is aquanted with Egon, Peter, and Ray at the beginning. Then have him become a Ghostbuster with them. But other than that I guess I don't really want a remake that badly.

That wouldn't be a good idea. Winston is suppose to be the everyman, so having him being a student of either them would take that outside man role away. He wasn't suppose to be a man of science like the other GBs.

No thank you on the remake. If Ghostbusters 3 does not get made than I would see it continue on as a comic book, a video game series and the other licenced products.

As many of my fellow fans have stated already the original film is fine warts and all.

I think you misunderstood me. I didn't really mean he was in a class that was being taught by them. I meant that he would be going to classes at the university for something besides science and would somehow meet them. Besides there's classes for everything now a days. Heck, I met some college students on my town's (it's a college town) bus who were taking a comic book class!

Remaking GHOSTBUSTERS is totally pointless.
