What to do if your local shop doesn't carry the book.

I didn't want to advertize, but so many people are worried about missing the book, I thought I'd post this:

If for some reason you can't pick up the book locally you can always set up a subscription online here:

http://www.mycomicshop.com/subscriptionservice/

Me and my fiancee used to work there so I can guarantee good service. They even ship overseas for those who are interested.

But I don't wan't to be biased. There are lots of other places to order online as well and I would only place an order online if your local retailer just refuses to order you a copy out of Preveiws for you…(which is pretty dumb, that's what they are there for) |

Just FYI.

You guys can also check out www.grahamcrackers.com I am also biased, because I currently work for them. I can state beyond a shadow of a doubt that we will be carrying the comic and we ship anywhere in the world!! If you guys need any help, please feel free to email me at batkid03@aol.com! Ghostbusters Rules!! (I don't mean to advertise either,I'm just trying to make sure that everyone that wants the book gets it!)

You're working the situation from the wrong end. The only way it wouldn't be available to EVERYONE who visits a comic shop is if it weren't distributed through Diamond…I'll go out on a limb now and say it will be.

All you have to do is tell your shop owner you want it, and keep your own eyes on Previews magazine to see when it's available for them to order. Hell, you can even make your own order from Previews in 99% of the shops out there…you just have to pay for it beforehand sometimes.

I'm telling you, availability is only going to be a problem if your retailer doesn't know about it. Get them excited, and you can bet you'll see it on the shelves.

Telling the local owner doesn't work.. I tried it, if you read my post “bad news, for me at least”, you'll see that I tried talking to the manager of the only place in town to get comics and they pretty much said that they weren't going to try to get it and if they'd get it they would. So they pretty much blew me off regarding the revival comic. And in the possibility of ordering the comic online, the question becomes will you be able to order the rest of the merchandise online too? I've sent an email to 88mph regarding this kind of stuff.. I'll be sure to let you guys know what is in the email if i get a reply.

I can tell you for a FACT that if an item is in Previews, your retailer can get it. No ifs, ands or buts!!! The only time something is questionable is if,for example, you ordered a toy that is only available in a case lot(meaning the retailer has to buy a case of figures)and you are the only person that's interested in the toy. Then they may not want to risk ordering a whole case of something that they can only sell 1 figure out of.

Glycerine:

I mainly posted my post for people living out of the country. Toygeek and JimmyPSHayes
are correct.

Diamond Distributors puts out a book called “Previews” which is what almost every comic shop orders there stock from. If a comic shop owner has an account set up with diamond they can order just one issue of whatever comic you like from the catalog.

The only thing I can figure is the comic shop owner you are talking about has been burned before and is afraid to order something for you for fear you won't pick it up…..or he/she is too lazy to set up an order form for something that has not been offered in the catalog yet.

Your best bet is to watch previews and wait till it's offered and then go in to order it and pay in advance.

You can check out the catalog here:

88mph studios has a deal with ThingsfromanotherWorld.com (YEs it's a real site) for the Transformers book..so thus the GB comics will be on there. ( I buy all my comics from them. )

How's that work? I thought the Genesis book was being distributed through Image, who last I remember had gone the “Diamond is now my exclusive reseller…but they're not a monopoly!” route. I'm not trying to be rude or question you, I'm just curious. Is it something they set up before Image picked up distribution?

I DO NOT have a COMIC SHOP near me, just a BOOK STORE. As far as I can tell, the manager doesn't have the “diamond” guide that you guys are talking about, just subscriptions that the company allows him to have. For the fact that the bookstore didn't touch transformers, or ninja turtles leads me to believe that they wouldn't touch ghostbusters with a ten foot cattle prod. So from what I've seen, he's probably afraid no one would buy it. I just hope that I'll be able to find out if I could order ALL of the products from 88mph. I emailed them and as of yet have had no reply and it's been 2 days. I'm just going to be VERY mad if I can't get my hands on this new GB stuff.. So from this I think it's easy to say that 88mph can't say that it's available EVERYWHERE.
