I've been a few forums in my time, and while I've noticed a small minority of EGB fans really love the show, for the most part fandom as a whole seems to dislike it.

I've been a huge Real Ghostbusters fan since I was a kid, back when it originally aired, and tried my hardest to see every episode of Extreme when it aired. I loved both of them.
And now years later, I just finally sat down and watched ALL 40 episodes of EGB in one go.

I find myself confused as to why some fans dislike the show. Is it just a case of “How dare they replace our beloved original gang”, or something like that? Because, really, EGB is every bit as fun to watch as RGB. Yeah, it's different, but it's still got great stories etc.

I wish it had ran at least another year or so. And I hope it gets a fairly decent showing when it comes out on DVD (Meaning at least a couple of commentaries, and a few featurettes). IF it comes out on Region 1, that is.

I never really got out of Ghostbusters but it certainly help refreshen my love for it. The minute I caught it by accident one day after school I watched it every day till it ended. I kick myself for not buying the toys when they went on sale for pratically nothing.

I had them all, got the hearse for $12.00 at TRU.

I beat the heck out of my RGB toys. Ironically my other childhood toys like the Crash Test Dummies are perfect. I'm slowly rebuilding my RGB back up.

i have always loved extreme ghostbusters its just not logical that the same 4 guys are going to be able to do this job forever you have got to think that this job will take a serious toll on the mind and body you will age faster due to the stress of the job a new team was needed and who better than egon's students from new york community college.

My problem was more aesthetic then anything else. My biggest problem was the new equipment. I still do not understand why the Proton packs, traps, and even Ecto-1 had to be redesigned. Not to mention the fact that the new equipment took a huge step back from an engineering standpoint, as they now required ammo.

i didn't understand the ammo thing my self if it power cell plugged in to the particle thrower it self you would think you wouldn't need the proton pack unless the function of the pack was changed to recharge the power cells. and the reason for the remodel of the equipment was stated in the first two episodes the ghosts were more powerful this time around and the old equipment was too weak to handle the spirits so egon redesigned it to be more powerful to handle the increased power of the entity they would encounter as i recall in the episode where eduardo loses kylies proton gun they missed out on a class 15 spirt granted i havent seen all of the rgb episodes but i don't remember any thing that powerful. i do remember an episode of rgb where they had to wait for a ghost to weaken before they could trap it it was a class 11 i think i belive egon said somthing to the effect that thaey couldnt contain a spirit that powerful. though correct me if I'm wrong.

I've always enjoyed EGB. While it's not as good as RGB, IMO it is nonetheless an entertaining and welcome addition to the GB series. I liked the characters, the ghosts and the darker mood of it.

Well they did use the RGB packs in the first episode. The ecto-1 is suppose to be the original Ecto-1, the reason it doesn't look the original is because they didn't pay the rights for the likeness to a caddy.
