born2bustheads: You've got to realise that casting is a fine art, you can get the best combination (Like the original cast of Ghostbusters), but you can get some pretty awful cast selections, I mean, there are actors who do one thing for years, and then go surprise you…but there's been a lot of suggestions that I, and I think Sarah agrees with me on this ‘the flavour of the month’, people who are the hot stuff of the week and aren't really suggested on acting style or on previous work, just going on that they're in the hyped, or over-hyped movie to come out recently.
As for your list:
1. Ben Stiller
2. Seth Green
3. John Cho (Harold from harold and kumar go to whitecastle)
4. Andre 3000
I assume Ben's in the role of Peter? While he has done some serious roles (They escape me at the moment), he's more attuned to slap stick and not the sort of dry-wit humour Bill portrayed.
Seth, I guess is meant to be Ray, but Dan wasn't all that young in appearance next to Bill and Harold, and I don't think it'd be credible to give someone as youthful looking as Seth Green the credentials of Ray Stantz.
John Cho: I admit I had to look this guy up, as I'd never heard of him before, I've heard of the movie, but never had any interest…or inkling to see it. I assume this is your choice for Egon?
While I'm not a racist, I've never really settled well to characters being recast as a different sex or race…a female Starbuck still boggles the mind, because that's not right. As I have about zero to go on for him, I can't say whether or not he'd be good for an Egon role. I can stretch to a different nationality…but a female Dr. Spengler in Egon's role if remaking GB? I don't think it'd sit well with me.
Andre 3000, has he even shown any interest in acting? Last I checked he was just doing his stuff with Outkast/Speakerbox.
As for thinking outside the box, that's a sword with two blades, it can be good, but also cause conflicts, problems with filming and ultimately, cause a film to bomb.
NEW STUFF MAKES MOVIES BETTER!!!
No it does't, tell me where it says that. Anyone remember
Time Machine?
THIS AINT THE 80'S ANYMORE!
You mean…it's not 1985?! Where did the last twenty years go?! :-O
Sorry…seriously though, we're well aware that the greatness of the 80s may never return.
IF YOU WANT A GREAT MOVIE YOU HAVE TO THINK OUTSIDE OF THE BOX!!!
See my comment about a paragraph ago.
As for Ernie, as gbmasterman said, he attended the LA Chiller Theatre showing (Which had GB) in full, screen used uniform, he's been a great supporter of the franchise doing gigs and getting photos taken with costumed fans and the 88MPH Crew, I doubt he'd turn down the chance to perform as Winston Zeddemore, but for Bill, if the rumors were true, he wouldn't have any kind of role as a mentor, he wanted to be killed off.
And saying:
yall suck
Is not winning you any friends, or the discussion.
Sarah, I think I'll add “Ghostbusters” by Ray Parker Jr to that playlist, if you don't mind
Trivia Note: anyone see the slightly unintentional RGB quote in there? :p
