Given that the original script for GB3 didn't involve these characters, I don't think its safe to assume that they're definitely going to be in the movie.

I think the Extreme Ghostbusters should either be treated as non cannon, or it could have happened but given that it is 12 years later, they have moved on to other endeavors and it's up to Stantz, Venkman, Spengler and Zeddmore to recruit new GBs to carry on the growing franchise.

That said, potential actors that I think would play excellent Ghostbusters are:

James Franco
Bill Hader
Brandon T. Jackson
Romany Malco
Paul Rudd
Justin Long

I like these actors because they are funny and recognizable, and yet not overexposed as Seth Rogan and Jonah Hill.

I'd stay away from Bill Hader… and James Franco doesn't really fit in my eyes, but Romany Malco is pretty good.

Paul Rudd and Justin Long are among my favorites for new parts though, along with Ryan Reynolds (watch him in Blade: Trinity and you'll know why I think he'd fit).

Brandon T Jackson would never fit, he looks like so cheap rapper with his bloody gang signs.

I never considered Franco as a GB until I saw Pineapple Express. He can actually be very funny. If he were to blend the character he played in Spiderman with the character he played in Pineapple Express, I think he would make an excellent GB.

Ryan Reynolds would be alright, but he would have to stay away from his Van Wilder character.

The Information that I read it says that the original GB's will be in GB3 and that's Wonderful. The Original GB's will be training a new team to help them out. I found out who they are and it's Seth Rogan and Paul Rudd and I forgot who else will be the new trainer. It looks like it will be three new trainers that the Original GB's will train. Just to note Sigourney Weaver wants to be in GB3. She's going to have a meeting with Bill Murray this week and I'm pretty sure that the writers from the office did include her in the GB3 script so we have to see what happens after Sigourney and Bill meet. She was great in the first two films and she will be great in the third film to and little Oscar may be in GB3 this time he will be older because Oscar was just a baby in GB2.
