i agree that none of the black actors mentioned could really pull off a winston role even close to ernie. and i dont know why jack black is being picked for ray. he's way too hyper. i mean waaaaay too hyper and theatrical to play ray. basically, there's no one who has the same comedic ability to pull off these roles nowadays, which is a huge let down because we probably wont see anything like ghostbusters ever again. but then, they wont be able to make a remake ever, which is good. i suppose i like the idea of the old cast supporting the new ones, because its the closest we'll get to what we want.

I'm starting to like the idea of Ben Stiller in the “new movie.” He's pretty good at comedy, but at the same time, he looks like he has the potential to do a more serious role, which would be required for such an endeavour.
I think Ben Stiller would be a good choice. Not to replace Peter, but to be a totally new character.
And as for Owen Wilson, he can do comedy as we know, but can also do more serious roles as we've seen Behind Enemy Lines. I think he also would be a good choice.

Why did you make those choices for your cast?
I'm not sure if a third movie with a new cast would work being set between the two existing ones, plus the five years between GB and GBII the guys are out of business.

hi, i am the italian guy….I wonder why they should replace the original actors…I'd like to see the old, fat and white haired Reitman playin' egon once again, this would make the movie absolutely realistic. Anyway it's likely Murray wouldn't play venckman, but they could replace him with some new characther…i think ben stiller is an interesting idea.So, here's my cast: Reitman, Aykroyd, Stiller and Jack Black (why not? He's ssso funny).

Remake?
Comic Book Guy says “Worst….idea….ever.”
Keep the “franchise” concept (even if there's only one new franchise, grown from the original) for GB3, go w/ new characters, set in post-GB2 timeline orientation.
As far as actors are concerned, Jack Black is a damn good idea. I also dig Ryan Reynolds….he'd be my first pick for the Venkman-esque role.

Ryan Reynolds would make GB3 friggin amazing. He's my favorite actor right now. He's got that sarcasm Venkman thing down definitely. That would make my day if he was cast in GB3.
