Who would you cast as replacements for the original team?

I won't accept a new cast. A new cast would almost be as bad as a remake.

Wow. I was just reading through some of these other posts a few pages(even years) back. And I saw that Ben Stiller was a big rumor to play in GB3. All I can say is wow. I can't believe some of you people would want the Ghostbusters name tarnished with the likes of Ben Stiller and Jack Black. Last time I checked, GB was a Sci-Fi movie that had comedy as one of it's elements. I've always thought that it was more Sci-Fi than comedy. What you want is a great cast with a good script that contains comedy. Without a doubt, no Ghostbusters movie should ever be made that's under the impresson “we're doing this scene just for big laughs” but instead it should be “we're writing this great scene and we'll add comedic bits when necessary and when it's available”.(And I look at BTTF the same exact way) There's no way I'd want the likes of Nacho Libre, Tenacious D, and guys from Dodgeball to be Ghostbusters. The casting should go about looking for great actors that can do all kinds of roles. Bill Murray was just perfect for Venkman. He's done tons of good comedies and he's also done drama and has been nominated for best actor at the Academy Awards. I'd much rather guys like Ewan McGregor and Eddie Murphy.

I'll probably get flamed for this but if Ghostbuster's 3 was going to be staring Jack Black, Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, and Adam Sandler, than I'm glad that Sony said no. If Ivan Reitman wants to make a movie with those guys about people who chase after the paranormal/aliens then he can go make another Evolution. I apologize for appreciating the kind of comedic mood that Murray, Aykroyd, Ramis, and Hudson set as the standard for a great Sci-Fi movie.

I've never onced understood why so many were so willing to have them play in a remake if one were being done. Just because their stuff is comedy doesn't mean they'd be good for the franchise.

True, I have no idea how they'd play it… but to me most of their styles wouldn't fit well.

Well put Sayingkingkilla, I wholeheartedly agree. I would love to have the originals, but some don't want to and have moved on. Don't worry about getting flamed, this is quite a friendly forum, you'll get disagreements, but not, “OMG WTH!!!11” etc.

It's not a case of saying, it's either them or NOTHING. I want SOMETHING. I want this to continue, and be freshened up for a new generation. The oldbies, handing the reigns over to a new generation of new faces (even Ryan Renolds is getting pigeon-holed).
Like Superman Returns, they chose someone who looked the part and can act.

If I were remaking Ghostbusters today, I'd cast the following people:
Vince Vaughn as Venkman
Jack Black as Stantz
Alexander Siddig as Spengler
Aries Spears as Winston
Roxanne Dawson as Dana
Yeardley Smith as Janine

I'll never understand the why people never stops suggesting Vince Vaughn for Venkman… that guy just sucks he's not even funny… (*egon)
