Why Activision Dropped Ghostbusters.

Found this online tonight:

“(those titles) don’t have the potential to be exploited every year on every platform with clear sequel potential and have the potential to become $100 million dollar franchises. … I think, generally, our strategy has been to focus… on the products that have those attributes and characteristics, the products that we know if we release them today, we’ll be working on them 10 years from now. …You still need to have production of new original property but you have to do it very selectively… the focus at retail and for the consumer is to continue to be o the big narrow and deep high profile release strategy… We’ve had enough experience that I think the strategy we employ is the most successful.” - Activision CEO Bobby Kotick

It's genuinely sad for me. I used to LOVE Activision back in the day. Oh, well.

I'm back, just for this post. Figures, in other words, they can't whore out Ghostbusters like they whore out Guitar Hero, Spyro or Crash, Bobby Kotick, you truly are an asshole.

Okay, I'm out again until Atari post something official.

“GHOSTBUSTERS IS GOING TO BE THE BEST GAME EVER…AGAIN!!!!!”
Sorry…I just got a little excited.(*ray)

Also, Activision dropped this game, because they have no concept whatsoever of financial forecasting, and I believe that, Atari picking up this game, is their way of telling Activision “UP YOURS!”, cause we all know what happened in the late ‘80s-early ’90s.

Figures, always knew the motivation was greed. If they weren't guarenteed to make a ton of money off of it then they weren't interested. (*janine)

*shrugs* Whatever, If Activision wants to become the next EA, thats their problem.

We know Atari got it and will announce it soon enough, but for now, time to look forward to the RGB DVD release.

They want stuff that lasts 10 years from now? Hate to tell them, Ghostbusters is still going and popular 24 years later. Eh, I am over this. Atari has the game, and it is coming out. Can't wait.

Well I'm glad they dropped it. I'd hate to see Ghostbusters be like Tony Hawk with really good first few games but now they are releasing just okay sequels every year or so.
