Why did they leave Ernie Hudson out of all the promo stuff for the first GB?

The first thread raising this question mysteriously dissappeared…

I think the most simple / true answer is Bill, Dan and Harold were already known. Ernie, not so much.

I'm very glad that has since changed! :-) (*winston)

It's 25 years later and he's still left out of most of it…

It's ironic since the fact that he's the “forgotten” Ghostbuster is kind of endearing to us hardcore fans… I'd even go as far to say he's my all around favourite GB!

Ernie is the man, he´s the one who still wears proudly the GB tees on conventions. I met him last year and he was very nice answering every question I made to him and even signed my book and album.

And he was also left out of a lot of the video games. When the angry video game nerd reviewed them he wondered if the game creators were racists or something.

I hear that! I'd really like them to go more into the character of Winston…you never really get much background on the him

Only answer i can think of is because he is not the founder of the ghostbusters. Thats the only logical thing i can think of. He dosent seem bitter about it.

I never really noticed before but yeah he's not given as much respect as his team mates. My fav gb is actually Ray, but we bruthas gotta stick together out there.

I think, outside of the Ghostbusters universe, he isn't in the promo stuff because he wasn't as well known as Ramis, Murray and Aykroyd.

I would say the whole story is really wrapped around the 3 central busters. Ernie is just a guy who got a job with the company.
