Why didn't the Stay Puft Marshmallow man talk?

He has a mouth, eyes…he's real right? So how come he doesn't talk? I heard him scream, but why not talk? Would have been cool to hear him talk and say something like, “I'm comin' to get you”

I don't see a reason for Stay Puft to talk. It wouldn't add anything except an extra layer of cheese that the movie would not have needed…

and none of the ghosts, save Gozer & Vigo, actually talk.

This is not meant as an insult, but how old are you?

This idea, coupled with your Ghostbusters III script ideas, have me thinking that you might be on the young side, which is ok, but it just would explain the ideas a bit more.

No ghosts talked in Ghostbusters except Vigo and Gozer. It would be childish and campy to have Stay Puft talk and have conversations with the Ghostbusters… this is why he does so in “The Real Ghostbusters”.

I agree with Doctor Venkman. It would work in a cartoon.

I think what he meant, going out on a limb here, is that since Staypuft was a form for the Destructor… then why didn't Staypuft talk?

My guess was that Gozer was through discussing the matter, they couldn't talk him/her/it out of it's plans, and it's mind was more than made up by that point, and was through delaying. So Gozer just went about doing what it has done for untold millenia… destroy.

So that's probably why Staypuft didn't talk.

What exactly does a 100ft. Marshmellow man need to say?

He's there to kill the ghostbusters, and imagine how ridiculous it would be if the SPMM said “I'm coming to get you.”

I mean just imagine how much that would have taken away from that scene. It has no way of advancing the plot any further, and I really want to avoid discussing the biology of the situation, because that's just too nerdy for even me.

I don't expect Stay-Puft to talk.

I expect Stay-Puft to die!

He's much more sinister as a silent world destroyer.

Haha, i'm actually 37…but when it comes to ghostbusters I go back to my childhood! I was too old to be playing with the real ghostbusters action figures. I know.

I keep it young and fresh..I think it was a valid question.

I think this is a valid question. Gozer was the Destroyer AND the Traveler, why didn't he/she/it speak other than the roar? I assume, like said before, it wold look silly but really that Gozer form looked stupid and clumsy to me with the silly smile on it's face and THEN it looked mad just to roar. I would have made it speak with a low rumbling “Die pathetic maggots” or something IF I was to make it speak.
