Why dont people understand Widescreen is better!!!

Widescreen is so much better. People think that just because there are black bars on the top and bottom means that they're getting part of the picture cut out, but you actually get more of the picture. I always watch my dvd's in widescreen. Even when I rent dvd's, I always make sure that I get the widescreen version if there is one. And if I accidentally start a movie in full screen, I restart it in widescreen. I can't believe that there are some people that actually think that full screen is better. Full screen ******' sucks.

In defense of fullscreen, while you get to see more of the film in widescreen, it's a lot smaller on a fullscreen TV.

That said, fullscreen absolutely blows. Disney's making a good move with the widescreen-only DVDs. Now, if only those hugenormous™ widescreen TV's weren't so damn expensive…

im getting a bit annoyed with widescreen because of the black bars. i end up watching full so i can see the picture bigger.

if we all had widescreen tvs, it would be awesome, but if you are watching widescreen on a stupid tiny tv…it sucks.

And you can't forget the scene in ghostbusters where they walk into the hall way. Egon is cut off! But in wide, you see all the gbs including the no longer cut Egon.

Truly, widescreen is better. So many people think full screens see's everything. But in full screen, the picture is bigger than wide. Only you can't see more in full.

Well i notice stuff on the full screen of gbs u dont see in the wide screen but u do but u gotta look like for an example after Ray says “Listen do you smell something?” Bill sniffs his noise. Also if u watch the commentary u all know Harold was cut off for the hotel scene and may i suggest go to Spook Central b/c u see the diffrences between wide and full screen of gbs

Don't get me started on Fool Screen/Pan and Scam. :@ I got so pissed off at this lady at Wal-Mart the other day. She's having an employee get a copy of T3 out of the case. “Do you want Widescreen or Full Screen?”, “Full.”.

Now in this case it was OK to get full screen since the WS T3 DVD is misframed througout the entire film(minues the effects shots) and it was shot in Super 35 anyway, so “FS” is the original filming ratio(albeit, not the original theatrical ratio.).

Anyway, that's not what pissed me off. She then says “You're getting cheated with the Widescreen! You don't get the top and bottom of the screen and I hate that. And the black bars are annoying.”. %*%&)^$!@%#*%!!!!! The employee tried to tell her otherwise but she ignored him. And here's the funny part, they walk off with the DVD and the lady with her says “But don't you have a Widescreen TV?”. HAHA! Enjoy your black BLOCKS on the left and right of the screen!

Pisses me off to no end. They insist fool screen is the way to go because you “Don't get the whole picture.”. SPREAD THE WORD! FULL SCREEN IS EEEEEVIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIL! :-@

*ahem* Sorry. I'm very sensivtive of my Widescreen…

LOL!!! You've managed to describe a typical day at work for me! :-) I work in the electronics department at the Wal-Mart in my town and I go through the same exact thing with my customers. They are always whining at me when they can't find or when we don't have the fullscreen version of a movie that they're looking for. I keep explaining to them the difference between wide and fullscreen and that they'd get more with widescreen, but it's like talking to a brick wall. I even use “Ghostbusters” as an example so they can see the difference for themselves. It's just ridiculous! :p

Oh my gosh my aunts and uncles are the same way. It's like come on for crying out loud…does a bar on top and the bottom really wreck your life THAT much??

You know, in actuality sometimes it really doesn't matter. There are various movies/scenes where even with full screen you don't miss a helluva lot. Then there are those movies where you got cool stuff in the background or characters being cut out, which require widescreen treatment.

I love widescreen, pretty much everybody on the board likes widescreen. But the way I see it, there are some DVDs that don't need widescreen, especially the DVD sets from TV shows because those were formatted for the TV screen. I think the biggest argument we can go with is when the movie is seen in theaters, it is widescreen, so what's the problem. The first DVD I saw didn't have that disclaimer that read This Film Has Been Modified From Its Original Version To Fit On Screen. I just found that weird…but I tell ya, I didn't care that there were bars at the top and bottom. It looked the same as in the theater. After watching widescreen movies for so long, I am convinced that I need a big screen TV. So, any other arguments for why Widescreen rules and why Full drools?

At Kmart, I encounter the same peeps. Really, they think that because it says “Widescreen” they immediatley think that they are getting less of the picture than they are with full. I had to deal with that in the weeks leading towards Christmas and myself tried to explain the difference. But I say screw em, if they don't want more of the picture that's their assess. I just get a nice paycheck.
