Why no third movie?

Every interview I read, I always see that Harold and Dan want to make a third movie, but won't. They've made scripts and toyed with the idea, but never went any further. Why is it they won't go through with it? What's keeping them from making the third movie?

Dan Ackroyd has stated that he respects Bill's decision for not doing a 3rd film, and that he doesn't want to sacrifice their friendship over this difference. And everyone agreed they didn't want to do the film without him. But since Dan keeps mentioning GB3, you can't but wonder if its eating him up on not getting that story made. I actually thinks its a great concept. Dans' creation and he can't do anything with it. Does that make any sense?

Pleasee!

We musn't talk about Bill Murray as an enemy to make GB3. Harold, sometimes, talk about ideas about the 3rd film, and Aykroyd is connected with GB news, and Hudson too.

We have to discuss the problems and advantages to make the third film.

Perhaps the problem is not Bill, but SONY??

Nobody is saying its one single thing, its a combination of things, including Bill Murray, who doesnt want it made and Sony, who doesnt give a shit about Ghostbusters obviously.

I dont understand why everyone says the movie is not being made because of Bill Murray. He said he didnt want to make another and he only owns the rights to venkman. The problem is SONY. They own the rights to ghostbusters as a whole. Doc is correct when he says Sony doesnt care about ghostbusters. To prove it, they refused to renew a contract with Universal Studios Florida to use the name and logo. So due to that the show was cancelled and EVERYTHING that had the no ghost logo or said ghostbusters was removed. What would the point of that be? The show was hurting anyone and neither would renewing the contract. Sony just wants ghostbusters to end.

I don't get it. There's a shitload of money to be made here and Sony obviously cares about money. Making a third Ghostbusters movie would be good for them. Why don't they want to do it?

I'm not blaming Mr. Murray. I'm starting to like the idea of Ben Stiller (not as a new Pete, but as a totally new character) anyway.
