I have just seen photos from a 2001 SNL skit of Aykroyd and Goodman dressed as Elwood and Mack but thier in gray suits and hats how come

They were dressed as postal workers. They sang “The Letter” after giving the news report.

As for the other question, I answered that in the post above. They gave the news and then sang “The Letter” and since it's a song about a letter being delivered, they had on postal uniforms (which are gray), and the news had something to do with the USA.
