Why was Dana Barret not in RGB?

Anyone know why? My initial guess is that the creators of the cartoon didn't figure she was an important character, but then after GB2 they included Louis so there must've been another reason. Some copyright thing perhaps? And correct me if I am mistaken but was she even mentioned in the series? The closest thing to her being in the RGB universe as far as I know is in the comic adaptation of GB2.

The only RGB material she appeared in was the Ghostbusters II movie adaptation, and one small reference whilst Peter was having a dream in the NOW RGB comic series.

I believe Fritz hypothesized that they left out Dana to play up Venkman's womanising in the show, a single Venkman chatting up every attractive woman he sees has more comedic value then Venkman and Dana's weekly interactions.

I agree with you Kingpin. The writers probably felt that it was funnier to play up Peter as a womanizer then write a new interactions between him and Dana. Strangely enough the writers for the Marvel UK RGB comics also had several references to her by Peter a few issues.

I find it funny that Peter hardly ever has a love interest in the series. There was Anne Lawslon (can't remember how she pronunced it) from the episode Revenge of Murray the Mantis. Then she never appeared on the show again. I can't think of a single time in the show where Peter goes on a date with anybody.

Well, he does have a date lined up in “The Halloween Door” but Slimer ruins it for him…

He goes on a date with Dr. Doris Tibbs in “Hard Knight's Day,” no?

Alice Derleth in The Collect Call of C'thulhu, his un-named date at the start of that episode… his un-named date in The Halloween Door who gets a snog from Slimer… Dr. Doris Tibbs was his date at the Cloisters in A Hard Knight's Day… (I know a couple of these were already mentioned, I didn't know they had when I wrote the post)

It is pretty interesting how Dana who was one of the main characters in the movie was completely excluded from RGB while Slimer who didn't have as big role was included and even became so famous he got his name in the show's title later on.

Alright. I stand corrected. Actually what I meant to say was that he didn't have an official girlfriend or love interest. And Hard Knight's day hardly counts since that woman had like nothing in common with Peter. That woman actually would've been a better match for Egon.

And Hard Knight's day hardly counts

It does count, regardless of how much of a “match” Peter had with her.

It was funnier if he didn't have a consistant “official” girlfriend… which is why Dana didn't appear.
