Well, I really hope he doesn't want to due to typecasting, because incase he doesn't realize pretty much most of his roles are exactly the same, an arrogant jerk. Ghostbusters of course, Groundhog Day, Scrooged, Stripes, Rushmore, etc. etc. long, long, long list here. What About Bob and Ed Wood are the only ones I can think of that he's shyed away from his Venkman. Infact when I was thinking about it, all they needed to really do was call him Peter Venkman in all his films.
Ghostbusters, Ghostbuster 2, The Adventures of Peter Venkman - Business Exec. Christmas Style, The Further Adventures Of Peter Venkman, Newscaster Trapped In One Day, this is fun, try it everyone lol.
But besides the point, I agree with the idea that he doesn't want to share the GB limelight with anyone else, unfortunately. It just proves the point of the jerk that people in Hollywood really say he is.

Whoah, there… Murray is probably one of the ncest people in Hollywood. If you'll notice, he picks his projects for the work environment and the experience. Ghostbusters 2 is the only sequel he's ever agreed to do and only because of the people he worked with. His condition for returning in GB2 was to convince him that the movie would be as good as the original.

It wasn't, but that's beside the point. All the principles held out for a percentage of the gross while clipping their usual salaries. This bit them all in the hinder when it went on to only gross like $109 million (someone confirm or deny that figure?)

So Reitman doesn't want to direct. Does that make him a scumbag, too? Ramis would like to direct, write and not play Egon. Aykroyd would cash the checks for writing and acting happily. It's his baby, after all.

Take it easy on Murray. He doesn't want Columbia to hand we the fans a big pile of crap based on market research for toys and cartoon tie-ins.

From what you are saying you make GB3 sound like it was a bad script. I have heard it was very good!!

I didn't know they had a completed script. Is it posted anywhere. I figure if anyone would have a bootleg it would be one of you Ghostheads.

(I mean no disrespect by that. This is an amazing, detailed and fanatical forum.)

The last I heard, Aykroyd and Ramis were tossing around ideas, but there was no working script, just ideas and maybe a Treatment. There have been a LOT of ideas, but an idea is a far cry from a shooting script.

Aykroyd finished it a while back. Sony will mot make the script.

I'd like to see that script. If Sony won't make a great script on GB3 by Aykroyd, there's a problem way beyond Murray not signing.
