WHY WONT MURRAY AGREE???????

Mario (he says with a benign twinkle in his eye) smile

Why do you not like The Murray any more? He is still the same soft and cuddly creature you knew and loved! Is it because he's accepted crap roles like the one in Charlie's Angels? He won't do a sequel, he said. Jamie Fox is supposed to take over as “son” of Bosley.

Is it because he just isn't the youthful goofball John Winger/Tripper/Venkman everyman character? Murray turned me on to Somerset Maugham, to science, to the the idea that one could be serious in a job without taking it totally seriously. He did this through movies. I can't look at a gopher or a groundhog without thinking Bill Murray.

Is it because he supposedly stands between us and a half-assed corporate retread of a franchise that will make Superman IV look like Aliens?

Bill LOVES the fans of GB because we let him make his pet project (The Razor's Edge) and allowed him to branch out. It's not his fault about GB3. Everyone involved doesn't want a trash triquel going out direct-to-video at the will of Sony.

OTOH - I see your point. Growing up, I didn't see the humor in Bob Hope or many of the comedians who got their start and hit their stride before Vietnam. Murray isn't a cynic or a profane standup. He did improv (with Aykroyd, Ramis, Moranis and others) LONG before Ryan Stiles, Colin Mockery and others taped “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” I suggest grabbing National Lampoon tapes from the 70s with Murray and Belushi, Harry Shearer (from The Simpsons) among others to see just how funny the guy is on his own terms.

smile Yes. I am a Bill Murray fan. He gave me goodness. I keep it in a Cedar Box next to my porn. No man shall take either.

You say that this third installment will go straight to vido, what makes everyone so sure that it will be that bad? Aykroyd himself has said that it's “the best devil script to come out of Hollywood.” Would he lie about something he has such a love for? I don't think so.

Did you retards ever stop to think that Bill Murray loves Ghostbusters so much, that he doesn't want to do Ghostbusters 3 because he thinks it will kill the legacy of Ghostbusters Completely?

Never stopped to think about that did you? It's entirely possible and HIGHLY likely that if GB3 was made it'd flop and suck terribly. Don't bash Murray just because he doesn't want to kill whats left of Ghostbusters.

Master Spider,

With all due respect, what ELSE is Aykroyd gonna say? He's trying to sell a script. He ALSO said that Valkynvania (later called “Nothing But Trouble”) would be a great horror movie.

And while I love Danny to death, he hasn't had the greatest track record for screenplays. Blues Brothers 2000, Coneheads, Dragnet, not TERRIBLE film scripts, but from one of the greatest comic minds of my generation, disappointing.

If he's trying to green-light a money with somebody else's money, he's going to say its the greatest script since Citizen Kane.

Okay… You've written a book. Call it “Pat the Bunny”

You are asked “How is the new ‘Pat the Bunny’ story coming?”

Do you:

a) Say, “It's okay…I'm not too happy with the way I wrote it. There are some problems, but I'm sure the studio will overlook it.”

b) Say, “Oh is SUCKS! I can't believe they're buying this crap! Sony must have parrot poop for brains if they buy this…my god, I was STONED the night I wrote this!”

or,

c) I'm VERY happy with the way it's coming out. It's strong, has great characters and will bring the audience back into the theatre in packs. I am SO excited I can't wait to get started.

NOW… add a $10 million dollar check to that question. Pick your best answer.

Well… it's pretty much a consensus that Murray only got into GB for his own interests… If the accounts about Bill Murray's personality are even half-right, you can't really expect him to show commitment to any Hollywood project, not the least of which is the GB franchise…

to think, if John Belushi didnt die, do you think this would be happening now?

i mean, if the movie is as great as it is now, and the kids really liked that cartoon… just everything as we know happened with John instead of Bill, do you think the 3rd would of come out by now?

Ectodude has a good point. If Belushi were alive, it may not have been Reitman involved at all. The project may have gone to Universal and John Landis set to direct it.

Ghostbusters may have looked COMPLETELY different with Belushi's weight behind Aykroyd and the project, more like what Aykroyd put down in his big, honkin 200 page “treatment” about futuristic ghost cops and time travelers.

Assuming Belushi lived and the project remained destined for Reitman and Columbia, it would have been a much different movie. Belushi's more into physical comedy so it probably would have included more pratfalls and waddling about in haunted houses - picture Abbott and Costello flicks.

OR, if Murray had declined to take the role of Venkman, think of what would've happened if CHEVY CHASE would have stepped in…dear lord in heaven.
