WHY WONT MURRAY AGREE???????

I still say even though Dan wants the script more than anything to be sold, he wouldn't say it was the best devil script unless it was. Think about that, that's a big piece of pie to live up to. He's saying this is better than The Exorcist and what not. If it wasn't, he would just say “very scary” and still be trying to sell his script.

Maybe Dan is going over his head with the new script and murray see's that as a mistake?

Anyway,pulling something from a quote I heard a while back which states “Sometimes people want to make a good thing better then its suppose to be, its a waste of time and money and it could ruin it.” That wasnt really said right but it makes sense, pooring time and money into something that needs to be left alone is a mistake, what if GB3 bombed in the theatre? Peoples reputations and careers as filmmakers would be ruined(or atleast hurt).

Murray is just being cautious.

I believe Aykroyd when he says it was good. He has proven to be one of the best writers in Hollywood with movies like Ghostbusters, Ghostbusters2, and Blues Brothers. I think Murray has a lot of influence at Columbia and they listened to him and not to Aykroyd about Ghostbusters3..

Aykroyd? One of Hollywood's best writers???? Dude, pick up a copy of the top 100 films ever made, or Variety's list of the best films made in the last 20 years and see how often Danny shows up.

Every writer has a slump. If you add the total that all of his films have made he is among the top writers that have had the films that have grossed the most.

Good point. If you look at the top grossers, ALL of his films combined meet over half a billion. ($526m) of which Ghostbusters and GB2 make about $350m domestic.

$238m (GB)
$112m (GB2)
$58m (Dragnet)
$55m (Blues Bros.)
$31m (Spies Like Us)
$26m (BB2K)
$22m (Coneheads);
$9m (Nothing But Trouble)

Compare him to the likes of John Hughes, Woody Allen, the Hughes Bros., then to the GREATS like Lucas, Crichton, Cameron, Kasdan, etc, Goldsmith, etc.

So, really the more successful we paint the GB movies financially, the less stellar his other flicks appear.

However, to be fair, Harold RAMIS has a great track record as a screenwriter (not to mention director)

$38m (Bedazzled);
$107m (Analyze This);
$71m (Groundhog Day);
$12m (Caddyshack 2);
$15m (Armed & Dangerous);
$12m (Club Paradise);
$92m (Back to School);
$81m (Stripes);
$40m (Caddyshack);
$44m (Meatballs)
$142m (Animal House);
$112m (GB2)
$238m (GB)

Note the critical an popular success of many of these flicks, too…

$1.6? BILLION? Based on who's numbers?

Yeah, billion sounds a little outrageous to me too. Analyze This!!! A great movie!! I can't wait for the sequel, Analyze That, which Harold will also be directing. If you haven't seen it yet, rent it! Don't watch it on tv for your first time, it's not as good.
