we all know what the writers and directors were aiming for but lets say that they amplified the vugarity (ergo, more humor in certian places & also lets you know how P***ed off the GB's were at ray for Mr.Staypuft) and gore! what if Ghostbusters really did scare the hell out of everyone the first, second - third time they saw it? better movie or worse?

Worse.

Most of us got into Ghostbusters in our Childhoods.

Had it been ‘R’ rated, we may not have gotten into it.

I think it would be different but i would see it someway or another. Maybe it would show the Ghostbusters other side.

Definately worse. For one, if it was, I wouldn't have seen it at the theaters when it first came out (as I would have been too young). Therefore, I would not be the die-hard fan that I am now. The way Aykroyd and Ramis wrote it was perfect. A little gore with a lot of humor made it one of the best films ever made.

I definately think it could have gone in mny different directions had it had a higher rating. The way it is now, Ghostbusters is timeless classic, with no need for change. Had it been more vulgar, some things may have been funnier, but others, very stupid and un-needed, and had the rating been R, the franchie probably, infact most definately wouldn't have made as much money, or spawned even a thought of a cartoon or a sequel.

Boy, With an R Rating we could have all looked forward to an extended Ray Dream Sequence. Whoooooo Boy!

i seem to remember something in “making ghostbusters”, harold ramis said something about trying to keep clean enough where parents would feel comfortable bringing their kids to see. one scene that was changed was at the very first, on the door to their lab, ‘venkman sucks c**k in hell’ will written on the window. also the fort determining scene with ray…well….GETTIN IT ONNNNNN.. smile ..with a ghost.

Well just because a movie is rated R doesnt mean that it has to be completely nasty, to be honest i'd just be looking for the odd F*** placed in a humorous phrase, catch line or sentence. lets put it this way: No leathal weapon type vulgarity (even if i do laugh my ass off at it, its still Ghostbusters). but none the less with variations of opinion it is a good question… who would swear the most?

I agree. A lot of us were probaably young when we got into GB, and wouldn't have been able to see it if it had been R. The movie came out perfect the way it was. The bit where Ray called Peck dickless, and Peter said “This man has no dick.” really surprised me that it made it into the final film, but, hey, the guy had just tried to put them out of business, and they were understandably p****d off at him. |
