Ok, so I'm rebuilding my proton pack (cue the 6 Million dollar man music). Turns out being left in an attic for 3 years wasn't good for it. Im not really happy with my previous attempt for the thrower ‘holster’. I originally just used a hook and an eyehook to hold my thrower on the pack but the thrower always hangs lopsidely and looks ridiculous. I've been looking over the proton pack plans availble on GBfans but no one really says anything about that bracket to hang your thrower from.

I went to ACE hardware today to ask them about it. They looked at me like i was crazy because they had never heard anything like it. I tried to explain it as best I could (i even told them to think of a cell phone belt clip that the phone slides into but they gave me the classic “what?” look.) Can someone tell me what you actually call that piece so I can tell them so they can get it for me? At least I hope its something they can get. Or is there another way to do it? That hook ive been using just doesn't cut it for hanging the thrower.

I just can't think of anything to jury-rig up to make that piece. If someone doesn't know what it is, can you tell me a good way to jury-rig something?

That would be the “V-hook”, the same thing used to mount the metal Dixie cup holders to walls. It basically consists of a male piece that is connected to the wand, and the female piece that is mounted to the pack. If you have any more questions, just ask.

Oh! you should also try The Home Depot, or Lowes. (*peter)

Good luck, Jim. I've even used the term “V-hook” and tried to verbally describe it, only to get the same looks you're talking about. If you find it in a retail store, let me know.

Well, its not as great as a V-clip but I think i found a good solution.

When everyone in the town of Savannah looked at me like I was building a nuclear device capable of massive destruc…oh right…anyway, I found a Fence bracket (it actually looks like a cell phone belt holder), i managed to grip it in a vise and hammer the two ends around so they curled and that screwed beautifully onto the pack. I also found some metal piece with two pointed ends on both ends, epoxied the ends, hammered them into the bottom of the proton gun box and so far..(and Im crossing my fingers on this) it holds it beautifully.

MUCH MUCH better than the eyehook and j hook i was using.



My proton pack won't win the best look-a-like award but its looking more like Dan Aykroyd could sign mine too. Eh, who am I kiddin?n Wish I was that lucky.
